Serial Number When you inquire about service for A-dec 300 systems, be ready to provide the serial number. The locations for the serial number tag depend on your specific configuration of equipment (see Figure 10). Figure 10. Serial Number Location
Figure 11. Serial Number Label Example
A B (A) The REF number is the model number. (B) The first letter of the serial number indicates the month the product was manufactured. The first digit of the serial number is the year of manufacture (for example, L8 = December 2008). Table 1. Key to Month of Manufacture

This section includes basic operating instructions for the A-dec 300 delivery systems, assistant’s instrumentation, cuspidor, and monitor mount. For touchpad operating instructions, refer to “Touchpad Controls” on page 23.
Delivery Systems Power Supply If your system is installed on an A-dec 300 or 500 chair, the power supply is located in the utility area under the chair. For installations on other chairs, your power supply is located in the remote floor box.
Master On/Off Toggle The Master On/Off Toggle activates the air and water for the delivery system and other modules mounted to the chair. In some installations, the Master On/Off Toggle also activates power to all associated systems, including the chair. The Master On/ Off Toggle is located on the right side of the control head (see Figure 12). To activate the system, flip the toggle up. Flip the toggle down to turn the system off. Figure 12. Master On/Off Toggle .

Alternate Master On/Off Toggle Locations If you have a configuration without an A-dec 300 delivery system (that is, supportside modules only), the Master On/Off Toggle is located on the cuspidor, support center, or remote floor box. To prolong the life of your equipment, turn off the Master On/Off Toggle when the delivery system is not in use. NOTE

A-dec 300 Systems Instructions For Use
CAUTION To prevent damage to your delivery system, do not use saline solution,
mouth rinses, or any chemical solutions not specified in this guide. Use a water supply system separate from your delivery system if you need to use these types of solutions. As a general rule, you can use drinking water as source water in your delivery system.
For complete instructions on water usage in your A-dec systems, refer to the A-dec Self-Contained Water System Instructions For Use (P/N 86.0609.00) included with your equipment.
Handpiece Activation The handpieces automatically activate when you lift a handpiece from its holder or pull the Continental whip forward. Press the foot control to operate the activated handpiece.
Chair Lockout The deluxe touchpad inhibits the operation of an A-dec 311, 511, or Decade® Plus chair when you remove a handpiece from its holder and step on the foot control. This feature is also available on some later model Performer® and Cascade® chairs and on systems that include an optional lockout kit.
Foot Control • To turn the water coolant on, flip the wet/dry toggle toward the blue dot on the foot control. • To turn the water coolant off, flip the toggle away from the blue dot (see Figure 13). Figure 13. Foot Control A

Basic Operation
Flexarm Brake The flexarm brake allows you to place varying amounts of weight (8 lb. maximum) on the control head tray while maintaining the position. The thumb-actuated brake restricts vertical movement but allows for side-to-side horizontal positioning of the control head (see Figure 14). Figure 14. Flexarm Brake

B (A) Delivery System Handle; (B) Flexarm Brake
Touchpads The A-dec 300 touchpad combines chair, cuspidor, light, and (with the deluxe version) handpiece controls into one touch surface. For complete instructions on touchpad operation, see “Touchpad Controls” on page 23.
Accessory Holder The optional accessory holder is a convenient location for additional accessories, such as a curing light. The holder installs on the right or left side of the control head in the unused tray holder mount position (see Figure 15). Figure 15. Accessory Holder
