Standard 3.0. (DICOM 3.0.). It can operate as a stand-alone ultrasound solution or be integrated with a hospital information system (HIS) or radiology information system (RIS) via DICOM-HL7 Gateway. Its Windows NT architecture is scalable to any size of medical facility, from a single ultrasound department to a multi-site hospital. The patient database supports either centralized or distributed storage of DICOM 3.0 images and electronic reports. These features allow multi-facility worksharing and offer a powerful platform on which to create an enterprise-wide data repository for all imaging modalities. ALI UltraPACS supports web based image retrieval and viewing, through integration with ALI UltraWEB. ALI UltraPACS 4.5 offers a robust teleradiology solution when used in conjunction with remote ALI UltraPACS AnyWARE workstations. In addition, ALI UltraPACS 4.5 is integrated with ALI NewPORT, an image capture station. Support for Patient Location Information ALI UltraPACS 4.5 supports a new study-level attribute, patient location. The patient location is the location from which the patient was brought in order to perform the study (not where the patient was when the study was performed or the current location of the patient). Therefore the patient's location can vary for successive studies for the same patient as the patient is admitted and/or moved to different areas of the institution for monitoring and recovery. The patient location for a study is tracked primarily for billing and transportation purposes. ALI Patient Manager provides the ability to set the patient location attribute for a study. This is available when scheduling studies as well as when modifying an existing study record. By default there are two patient locations: • •
16
Out-Patient In-Patient
Preface
ALI PACS Administrator has the ability to add, remove and update the list of patient locations for those institutions where a finer degree of patient locality is required (for example ICU or ER).
Support for Body Part Study Information This release of UltraPACS supports associating one or more body part names with a procedure type. You can also associate one or more body parts with a particular procedure type. Studies can be prefetched based on the body parts associated with its procedure types. A standard set of body part names are determined and included as the default shipped with any system. ALI PACS Administrator can be used to add, remove or update body parts entities stored in the database.
Support for Study Priority Study priority is now available. Studies can have one of five study priorities assigned (STAT, HIGH, ROUTINE, MEDIUM, OR LOW). You can change the names assigned to the various studies and the default study priority assigned using ALI PACS Administrator. A new user preference in ALI ImageViewer to allow physicians to specify whether they want to be interrupted when a new STAT priority unreported study is detected in the In-Box
Temporary Diagrams Available in ALI Jot Tool The option to create temporary diagrams that are deleted when the study is marked reported has been added to the ALI Jot Tool. This enables technologists to add information for the reviewing physician that will not become a permanent part of the study.
Video Streaming Option With the release of ALI UltraPACS 4.5, users can review a live ultrasound video feed (or any video feed the site wishes to transmit) from ALI ImageViewer. Video streaming is a separately purchased option.
