The purpose of the Care-e-vac®ac is to perform oral and tracheal aspiration procedures. The Squire-Cogswell/Aeros Care-e-vac®ac is an AC powered, portable aspirator. It comes equipped with an 800cc canister, a hydrophobic filter, a Yankauer tip and 6 ft. tubing.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
PRIOR T O INITIAL USE TO Upon receiving your new Care-e-vac®ac, visually inspect your unit to ensure it is in good working order and that no damage has occurred during shipment. The Care-e-vac®ac will use any collection device. However, if you are not using the Aeros 800cc disposable collection canister, make sure that the collection device that is being used is equipped with a safety overflow mechanism to protect the pump from accidental overflow flow.. Ensure that you have the appropriate collection device, suction tubing and aspirator tip for patient use. The Care-e-vac®ac is now ready to be used.
OPERA TION INSTRUCTIONS OPERATION 1.
Ensure that the hydrophobic filter tubing assembly is connected from the vacuum port of the Care-e-vac®-ac to the vacuum port of the collection canister and the 6 ft. tubing is connected from the patient port of the collection canister to the aspirating tip that will be used.
2.
Turn the unit “ON”.
3.
TOR knob, adjust the Pinch the patient tubing closed. Using the VACUUM REGULA REGULAT vacuum level to the least amount of vacuum that will be necessary to properly suction the patient.
4.
Release the pinched tubing and suction the patient as needed

Turn the unit “OFF”.

PROCESSING AND CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS 1.
Wipe the surface of the unit clean with mild antiseptic and a soft clean cloth. Do not allow any cleaning solution to spill into the vent on the sizes of the unit.

1. Plug the unit into a 120V AC outlet. 2. Check all electrical connections for possible loose connections. 3. Replace fuse. 4. Replace the pump.
Pump runs when the 1. Regulator is turned all the way off. switch is depressed but there is no vacuum at 2. Improper tubing connection or outlet crimped tube in the system.
1. Turn regulator knob clockwise to start flow or increase vacuum. 2. Check all external vacuum paths for crimped tubing. If still no vacuum, check all internal tubing connections. 3. Clean vacuum regulator. 4. Check canister for any cracks. Verify that all ports on the canister lid are tight. 5. Replace filter.
