UM-101 Calibration Procedure The UM-101 can be calibrated by using either of two calibration procedures. 1.  2.  Analogue Calibration, using the variable trim-pot located within the battery compartment. (This method is the simplest and quickest way to make slight adjustments to the calibration of the UM-101) Digital Calibration, using the calibration switch located behind the blue adhesive panel on the rear case. (Refer to Fig. 1 for the location of the trim-pot and calibration switch)  1. 2. 3.  4. 5.  6.  Analogue Calibration Locate the trim-pot beneath the silver label inside the battery compartment. Connect reference meter to UM-101 using “T” connector. a. Slide one of the batteries against the contact spring to disconnect the battery, b. Press and hold the ON/OFF switch while reconnecting the battery. The UM-101 will display Zero. Apply pressure up to full capacity. Adjust the trim-pot if necessary to correct the accuracy of the UM-101. Turn off and perform step 3 to re-enter the inspection mode after adjustment. Check the accuracy as pressure is applied and held at several intervals and at zero.  Repeat the above steps several times to ensure that the adjustment is successful and no further adjustment is required. Note: Turn the trim-pot anticlockwise if the calibration is low, clockwise if the calibration is high, using the following formula; Pressure value applied = A, Reading = B, A-B (Remainder) = C. When C is +, turn the screw anticlockwise to change the display by the amount, B-C. When C is -, turn the screw clockwise to change the display by the amount, B+C.  1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10. 11. 12. 13.  Digital Calibration Locate the calibration switch located behind the blue adhesive panel on the rear case. Connect reference meter to UM-101 using “T” connector. Ensure UM-101 is OFF. Press the calibration switch. The display will show ooo Press the calibration switch. The display will show 0 Ensure zero pressure is applied. Press the calibration switch. The display will show 150 Apply and hold pressure at 150mmHg. Press the calibration switch. The display will show 300 Apply and hold pressure at 300mmHg. Press the calibration switch. The display will show CAL end Press the calibration switch to turn off the UM-101 The accuracy can be checked by entering the inspection mode as detailed in step 3 of the analogue calibration procedure then applying pressure.  Note: Pressure applied should be stable within +/- 0.2mmHg  Fig. 1
