Preventive Maintenance Schedule

Equipment operators and Service/Maintenance Personnel should hold this Preventive Maintenance Schedule. If you require further information or a service contract, please contact your local ARJO representative. The equipment is subject to wear and tear, and the following maintenance instructions must be performed when specified to ensure that the equipment remains within its original manufacturing specification. Please refer to the Operating Instructions No.KKX52180.** and the Parts List No.KKX52190.** which are available from your ARJO dealer. (** = Two letters of a country code) ARJO strongly advise and warn that only ARJO Ltd company designated parts, which are designed for the purpose, should be used on equipment and other appliances supplied by ARJO Ltd, to avoid injuries attributable to the use of inadequate parts. Preventive Maintenance Schedule ARJO Slings

Make sure all castors rotate freely and the two rear brakes lock. Where installed, make sure the Straight Line Steering Guide (see Fig. 5) operates locking the rear castor inline.

Before each and every use

Make sure the castor-mounting pin is tight on the chassis and chassis legs and the castor tread is not damaged.

Examine the slings, their straps and attachment clips. If any part of the sling or its straps is frayed, or any one of the clips is damaged, the sling must be withdrawn from use immediately and replaced with a new sling.

Examine all exposed parts, especially where there is personal contact with the patient’s body. Make sure no cracks or sharp edges have developed that could cause patient or user injury or have become unhygienic. Replace where necessary.

Where necessary, after patient use, carry out decontamination of the sling in accordance with ARJO Ltd instructions MAX.01520.INT. and local decontamination regulations.

Make sure all instruction labels are firmly attached and are readable.

ARJO Battery Charger

Make sure the Lower Override knob is turned fully clockwise and is finger tight (do not over tighten).

Before each and every use

Make sure that the sling attachment cords and the loop lock assembly are visually inspected. Any component found frayed or damaged must be withdrawn from service immediately and replaced with a new loop lock assembly.

Visually examine the battery charger for loose connectors, cut wires and damage to the casing. Do not use if found loose, cut or damaged in any way.

ARJO Encore

Weekly For longevity recharge battery/s for a minimum of 15 hours once every seven days. See Operating Instructions

Before each and every use Make sure the battery is charged before use. If not adequately charged, replace with a fully charged battery.

Operate the lift through its full range. Make sure the lift can operate from both the built in dual control panel and the cable remote control handset in a normal and smooth manner.

Where necessary, after each patient use, carry out decontamination of the ARJO Encore in accordance with Arjo Ltd Operating Instructions, No.KKX52180.** and local regulations. (** = Two letters of a country code)

Open and close the chassis legs and check for full travel and smooth movement. Examine the condition of the handset and its cable. Withdraw from service immediately and replace with new cable and handset assembly if damaged.

Daily Make sure the battery pack is in a good state of charge. Recharge the battery (minimum 8 hours) at the end of each working shift, or when the battery display reaches the yellow range. The battery must be charged as soon as possible if the display shows the red flashing light. See Operating Instructions for battery charging. •

Make sure all external fittings are secure, and all screws and nuts are tight. Make sure the handgrips on the Arc-Rest, (Supportive armrests with handgrips) are secure, tighten if required. Examine the integrity of the loop lock assemblies and the knot within the cone knob.

Note: The lifter is fitted with an audible warning device this will sound when the battery discharge indicator reaches the red light range. If the audible warning is activated, the battery must be charged as soon as possible.

Make sure the 1 off socket set screw retaining the front clevis pin in the upper lift arm is tightened to 6.4 Nm (56lb in). Make sure the 2 off M4 socket set screws retaining the cord cleats in the Arc-Rest are tight

Make sure the lift can operate through its full range from both the built-in dual control panel and the cable remote control handset in the normal manner.

Preventive Maintenance Schedule

Make sure the foot support can be removed and replaced and there is no damage to the hook and location pins on the Foot Bracket assembly. Every 12 Months Test the Automatic Stop Function as follows. With the Arc-Rest raised well above its lowest position, using the cable remote control handset lower the Arc-Rest, at the same time with your other hand, hold the Arc-Rest up for about five seconds. The motor will continue to run while the Arc-rest is held up and does not move. Release the button, the ArcRest must remain in its previously restrained position. Repeat the test this time using the Dual Control Panel lower buttons.

Lubricate the rear pivot bearing and actuator slide blocks and tracks with LM grease. See Fig. 2. Examine the hydraulic actuator for an oil leak. A small amount of discharge onto the felt pad is acceptable but recommend the felt pad be replaced. If a large oil leak is found the actuator must be replaced.

Make sure the chassis legs are square to the chassis member, also the commode frame will locate freely into its location holes in the chassis legs. Adjust if required.

Where scales are installed, check the accuracy of the unit and recalibrate if required.

Note: The specified maintenance instructions are in addition to the daily and weekly maintenance instructions that are specified in the lift operating manual.

Recommended Spares

Do a torque tightening check of the following:

Scale or block attachment bolts 2 off to Chassis - 70Nm (51lb ft). Fig 5, item Gx2.

Lower arm lift to pivot arm assembly attachment Hex head & countersunk screws 20Nm (15lb ft). Fig. 2, item Ix4.

Replace the Rear Pivot bearing assembly attached to the pivot arm assembly. Make sure the Nyloc nut is torque tightened to 20 Nm (15lb ft). See Fig. 2, item A

Examine the Foot Bracket assembly for operation and for fitment to the mast.

Replace the 4 off nylon slide blocks attached to the PLA housing assembly (see Fig. 1) with new unused slide blocks. Make sure the 4 off attachment screws are torque tightened to 20Nm (15lb ft). See Fig. 1, item Bx4.

Examine the manoeuvring handle for security, if loose torque tighten the two retaining screws to 20 Nm (15lb ft). See Fig. 3, item Dx2.

Chassis leg pivot bolts 2 off - 47Nm (35lb ft). Fig. 5, item Fx2.

Upper lift arm to trailing arm plates attachment Hex head & countersunk screws 20Nm (15lb ft). Fig. 1, item Hx4.

Carry out the 12 monthly Preventive Maintenance Schedule checks plus the following:

Examine the two sling attachment points on the Upper Lift Arm. If found damaged, replace the Upper Lift Arm

Every 24 Months or 200 hours of use whichever is earlier

Examine the two sling clip attachment points in the Lower Lift Arm. If found loose torque tighten to 20 Nm (15lb ft), or if damaged replace with new. See Fig. 2, item Cx2.

Castors to the chassis and legs 4 off - 25Nm (18lb ft). Fig. 5, item Ex4.

Centering/Stop unit for leg actuator, to chassis countersunk screws, 2 off, - 10Nm (7lb ft). Fig 6, item Ax2

Lubricate the attachment points for the footboard and the mounting shaft for the kneepad with silicone grease. See Fig. 4.

Test the emergency stop facility by operating the cable remote control handset to lift or lower the Arc-Rest, whilst operating press the emergency stop button. Powered movement must stop immediately. Reset by pressing the green reset button. Repeat the test this time operating the chassis legs to open or close.
