Foreword Please read this manual in its entirety before using your Turntable. The information in this manual is crucial to the proper operation and maintenance of the equipment, and will help protect your product as well as ensure that the equipment performs to your satisfaction. Some of the information in this manual is important for your safety and must be read and understood to help prevent injuries. ArjoHuntleigh strongly advises and warns that to avoid injuries that can be attributed to the use of inadequate parts, only parts designated by ArjoHuntleigh should be used on equipment and other appliances supplied by ArjoHuntleighl. Furthermore, unauthorized modifications on any ArjoHuntleigh equipment may affect its safety. ArjoHuntleigh will not be held responsible for any accidents, incidents or deficiencies of performance that occur as a result of any unauthorized modification to its products. The operating life of this equipment corresponds directly to the safe operating time period before a complete overhaul is required. Aging of the equipment, frequency of use (number of rotations/ day) and maintenance frequency are factors that have an impact on the Turntable’s life span. A rotation is defined as the rotation of the Turntable to the desired track path and its rotation to the initial track path.

Equipment Identification

Means: Failure to understand and follow these instructions may result in injury to yourself and others.

The unit's identification number (specification, model, serial number) appears on a silver nameplate fixed inside the track of the Turntable.

CAUTION:

Verifying the Package Contents Always ensure that the Turntable will be installed by a contractor or installer that has been authorized by ArjoHuntleigh.

Means: Failure to follow these instructions may cause damage to the product(s).

Upon receipt of the equipment, verify it against the packing list to ensure it is complete and inspect the equipment for possible damage due to shipping. If there is any damage, notify the carrier immediately to file a claim. Provide complete information concerning damage claims or shipping errors to your local ArjoHuntleigh representative. Include all equipment identification numbers and group part numbers (if any) as described above along with a full description of damaged parts.

NOTE:

Means: This is important information regarding the correct use of the equipment.

Intended Use The Turntable, part of the Kwiktrak track system, is designed to allow the ceiling lift to pass from a track path to another. The equipment must only be used for the purposes stated above, and must be installed by ArjoHuntleigh authorized technician and in accordance with local codes.

Operational Life The equipment is designed and tested for a useful life of seven (7) years or 10 000 transfers-whichever comes first-subject to preventative maintenance as specified in the Care and Maintenance section in this manual.

General Information How to Use this Manual WARNING: Do not attempt to use this equipment without fully understanding the information contained in this manual. To ensure the safe operation of the Turntable, read the entire manual carefully, especially the Safety Instructions section, before installing, operating, or servicing this equipment. If anything is not completely understood, please contact your local ArjoHuntleigh representative for more details. Failure to comply with warnings in this manual may result in injuries. Keep this manual with the Turntable and refer to it as required. Make sure that all operators are regularly trained in the use of the equipment according to the information found therein.

Safety Instructions The equipment must be used in accordance with these safety instructions. Anyone using the equipment must also have read and understood the instructions in this manual.

General Instructions Keep these safety instructions with the Turntable at all times. Read the operating and product care instructions in this manual before installing, operating or servicing this equipment.

If there is anything you are not sure about, contact your local ArjoHuntleigh representative.

NOTE : The Turntable #700.11600 is designed to be used with the track lift series #910XXXX, #911XXXX, #913XXXX, #923XXXX and #LDXXXX only. The electric Turntable #700.1165X is designed for use with portable patient lifts.

Safe Working Load The safe working load of theTurntable is 272 kg (600 lb).

WARNING: The Turntable is intended to be used with ceiling lifts which SWL not exceed 600 lb.

Important Safety Instructions WARNING: All track ends must have an end stopper in place and secured.

WARNING: There must be an end stopper in each red zone labelled “NO RAIL” (see Fig. 3). Always ensure that: •

All track and Turntable installations have been performed by a certified installer and in accordance with local code.

•

The equipment is used by trained staff.

•

The track installation will accept a load of 272 kg (600 lb).

•

Before an attempt is made to move the resident, an assessment is performed by a qualified professional.

•

You are prepared before attempting to transfer a resident.

•

Violent impact during transfers is avoided.

•

All controls and safety features are used only according to the rules specified in this manual. Never attempt to force a control or button on the Turntable.

•

The charger is not stored in a shower, bath or other areas with high humidity.

•

The monthly maintenance is carried out. 8

Safety Instructions •

For 700.1165X model only : To prevent serious injuries from accidentally activating the unit, always unplug the power supply from the wall before opening the unit for servicing. CAUTION: ArjoHuntleigh Turntables are specifically designed for use with accessories and track systems manufactured by ArjoHuntleigh. We cannot ensure the safety of a transfer, and therefore cannot be held responsible, for any incident that may occur as a result of the use of tracks or accessories produced by another manufacturer. In order to ensure the safety of the patient and the caregiver, use only products manufactured by ArjoHuntleigh with this equipment.

CAUTION: Keep all components of the Turntable clean and dry, and have safety checks done as instructed in the “Care and Maintenance” section of this manual.

Shock Prevention •

Do not touch or use a Turntable with bare conductors or a damaged power cord. Electrically live equipment can result in serious injuries. If the equipment or charger has any exposed or damaged wires, contact your local ArjoHuntleigh representative immediately.

•

Do not splash or expose electric parts of the device to water or moisture.

•

Check nameplate for input voltage and frequency requirements. These requirements differ by country. Do not attempt to use the Turntable in an area that has a different voltage and frequency requirement.

•

Do not attempt to expose, service or repair the Turntable. If any unit is malfunctioning, contact your local ArjoHuntleigh representative.

Equipment Warning Labels •

Carefully read the labels on the battery and follow the instructions.

•

Inspect all precautionary labels on the equipment. Order and replace labels that cannot be easily read.

Safety Instructions Tracks positioning

Red sections (“NO RAIL”)

The Kwiktrak Tunrtable increases the flexibility of a track layout by allowing additional room coverage. There are several possible track layouts with the Turntable. When planning a track layout using the Turntable, you must respect certain conditions: •

Only two crossed track layouts are allowed per Turntable.

•

End stoppers must be installed in each unused position.

•

There is one main path and the possibility of one on four secondary path choices (see Fig. 2).

•

Maximum rotation is 90º by increment of 22.5º.

Tracks must be positioned in the green sections only for the main path (RAIL 1) and the secondary path ( RAIL 2).

•

Do not install tracks in the red sections (marked “NO RAIL”). The end stopper plates that are preinstalled at the factory completely cover these red sections (see Fig 3).

Installing the Turntable Preparing the Turntable Rail 1B (Optional) Ensure to have all components of the Turntable in hand before beginning the installation. 1) Open the packaging and remove the parts from the box. It should contain: •

the turntable;

•

eight end stoppers for unused positions of the green section;

•

one rack simulation bracket;

•

four track brackets.

4) Place the first track in the green section labelled “RAIL 1”.

2) Using a 6 mm Allen key, unscrew the two screws which secure the two turntable covers, then remove the covers (see Fig. 6).

5) Place a second track in one of the green sections labelled “RAIL 2”. 6) According to your needs, a track can be placed in the green section labelled “RAIL 1B”. It must be in a straight line with the previously placed “RAIL 1” from step 4 (see Fig. 7). 7) According to your needs, a track can be placed in one of the green sections labelled “RAIL 2B”. It must be in straight line with the previously placed “RAIL 2” from step 5 (see Fig. 7). 8) Review the track pattern on the floor (see Fig. 8, Fig. 9 and Fig. 10).

3) Establish the track pattern on the floor. The Turntable track must face the floor (see Fig. 7).

Check that “RAIL 1” and “RAIL 2” in the green sections will both be connected by tracks.

•

Check that “RAIL 1B” and “RAIL 2B”, if installed, are in line with “RAIL 1” and “RAIL 2”.

•

Make sure that both paths are installed in the green zone and that there is only two crossed paths through the Turntable.

WARNING : If a track will be not installed in position 2, as shown on , install a track simulation bracket included with the Turntable, in this position to allow the limit switch to detect the second track pattern (see Fig. 11).

10) Use a plumb laser to pinpoint the Turntable mouting location on the ceiling. (Refer to the track installation manual for further information). There are 4 mounting points on the Turntable. Refer to Fig. 13 to locate drilling location.

9) Use a rotating laser to align the tracks with the Turntable. Use the two groove marks on the turntable main plate to accomplish with the centre of the tracks (see Fig. 12).

11) Install track juntion fasteners on the track ends will connect with the Turntable. Make sure the stoppers (spring pins) are in contact with track then lock the setscrew in place using a 6 mm Allen Key (recommended torque: 20 N·m or 15 lbf·ft).

12) Before mounting the turntable on the ceiling, check the following points:

The Turntable must be installed first, and you need to be aware of any obstacles that can have an impact on the rail’s course.

•

The two mains positions where tracks must be installed are “RAIL 1” and one of the “RAIL 2” positions. The limit switch system only detects these two tracks.

•

The optional positions are “RAIL 1B” and “RAIL 2B”. These positions must be in line with the opposite track position. The limit switch does not detect optional tracks.

•

The limit arm inside the Turntable must be between RAIL 1 and RAIL 2 (see Fig. 16).

13) Mount the Turntable on the ceiling using the four mounting holes on the bearing plate (see Fig. 17). Once installed, the threaded rod used for mounting should not extend more than ½ inch past the bearing plate.

15) Locate the limit arm for the limit switches within the Turntable. Insert a metal U-clip on either track wall where the limit arm makes contact with the tracks.

CAUTION : Refer to the Kwiktrak installation manual for details about installing the Turntable to the structure.

NOTE: The distance between the top of track and the top of metalclip must be 23.5 mm (5/8 in) (see Fig. 20).

14) Attach the tracks to the Turntable using the previously installed track fasteners (see Fig. 18 and Fig. 19). Use a 13 mm socket to screw bolt to 20 N·m (15 lbf·ft). The Turntable must be level in all directions.

Installing the Turntable CAUTION: Each end stopper must be aligned with the ones along side it to ensure proper function and appearance of the installation (see Fig. 22).

NOTE: For the electrical Turntable 700.1165X, be sure not to pinch the wire on cable when reinstalling the covers or the tracks.

Correct Alignment

18) Manually rotate the Turntable using the integrated emergency handle. Proceed with caution to avoid injuries. No metal parts - such as stoppers or covers - may make contact with the device when its rotated. The bearing plate must turn easily. 19) Insert the patient lift unit into the track system. Check the orientation of lift power contact points with the Turntable contact point blades (see Fig. 23).

WARNING: All remaining open positions must have Turntable end stoppers in place to avoid the fall of the lift. Screw each bolt to 12 N·m (9 lbf·ft).

20) Install stoppers at each track end to prevent the lift from exiting the track (recommended torque : 12 N·m (9 lbf·ft)).

16) For Electric Turntable #700.1165X only, connect the power cable extension. 17) Reinstall the 2 covers using the button head screws and a 6 mm Allen Key.

Installing the Turntable Final Inspection of the Installation 1) Turn on the lift. 2) Move the lift into the Turntable. 3) Wait a few seconds - you will hear an audible signal. 4) The Turntable will rotate to the next position. 5) Move the lift out of the Turntable and then return it to the Turntable to test the rotation in opposite direction. 6) Wait a few seconds - you will hear an audible signal. 7) The Turntable will turn back to its first position. 8) Check once more the alignment of the track and the Turntable - if the tracks aren’t well aligned, use a 1.5 mm Allen key to adjust the limit arm contact point (see Fig. 24).

9) Upon successful completion of the function tests, the Turntable is ready to use.

Operating the Turntable WARNING: Read and understand this procedure before using this equipment.

Turntable #700.11600 10) Turn the lift on by pulling the red cord. The green indicator will light up. 11) Move the lift into the Turntable and release the button on the hand control. Listen for the beeps sounds. The Turntable will rotate to the next position. 12) Move the lift out the Turntable along the new path. Fig. 25

13) If the Turntable fails to operate automatically or in an emergency situation, manually rotate the Turntable after sliding and holding the quickrelease button in the open position (see Fig. 25). Be cautious to avoid injuries.

Electric Turntable #700.1165X 1) Manually move the portable lift into the center of the Turntable. 2) Pull and release the Turntable cord to initiate the rotation toward the next position. 3) Move the lift manually out the Turntable along the new path. 4) To return to the original position, move the portable lift into the center of the Turntable and pull and release the white cord. 5) If the Turntable fails to operate automatically or in an emergency situation, manually rotate the Turntable after sliding and holding the quickrelease button in the open position and turn the turntable (see Fig. 25). Be cautious to avoid injuries.
