ARJO strongly advise and warn that only ARJO designed parts, which are designed for the purpose, should be used on equipment and other appliances supplied by ARJO, to avoid injuries attributable to the use of inadequate parts. Unauthorised modifications on any ARJO equipment may effect its safety. ARJO will not be held responsible for any accidents, incidents or lack of performance that occur as a result of any unauthorised modification to its products.

Safety instructions This equipment must be used in accordance with these safety instructions. Anyone using this equipment must also have read and understood the instructions in this booklet. If modifications are made to the equipment without the expressed acknowledgement of ARJO, or if the product is not checked and maintained according to the chapter on Care and Maintenance in this manual, the product liability from Arjo will be invalidated. Intended use This equipment is intended for therapeutic bathing and showering of hospital or care facility residents under the supervision of trained nursing staff in accordance with the instructions outlined in the Operating and Product Care Instructions. All other uses must be avoided. Equipment fitted with a bath tub disinfection device must be disinfected according to the instructions established in the Operating and Product Care Instructions. All other uses of the disinfection device must be avoided. The equipment must only be used for the purposes stated above, and must be installed according to the Assembly and Installation Instructions, which can only be superseded by local code. The expected lifetime of this equipment, unless otherwise stated, is ten (10) years, subject to required preventative maintenance as specified in the Operating and Product Care Instructions, the Assembly and Installation Instructions and the Spare Parts Catalogue.

Always make sure that: ❏ the equipment is handled by trained staff. ❏ the water/shower temperature is checked with your bare hand before the bath. Do not use a glove while checking the temperature

❏ equipment is properly disinfected after each bath. ❏ your skin and eyes are protected against concentrated disinfectant/cleaner. Carefully follow the instructions on the disinfectant/cleaner bottle!

❏ all lifting/transporting equipment is in good condition and follow the instructions for all equipment. ❏ there are no parts with sharp edges coming in contact with residents. ❏

chair seats, mattresses etc., are fastened and all screws are tightened. Also check for cracks and tears that would allow water to get into the mattress filling. If there is such damage, then replace it!

❏ the castors of the lift are locked, except during transport. ❏ the resident is sitting firmly, securely and in direction to face the panel to avoid injuries.

❏ lift is moved around with care, especially in narrow passage and over bumps etc. ❏ the resident's hands and feet are placed on appropriate rests. ❏ safety straps are in good condition and properly fastened. ❏ the equipment is not switched off via the safety switch. The safety switch is for emergency situations and service only.

WARNING Do not allow the resident or operator to sit on the end or side of the bath tub.

WARNING A professional assessment of the resident must be made in order to ensure their suitability to use this product.

WARNING Always mount the cover over the hydromassage inlet (no 17 on page 9) to avoid that the residents hair gets trapped in the opening.

WARNING Do not allow anyone to stand in the bath tub.

WARNING Do not use the equipment in presence of inflammable anaesthetic gases.

WARNING Modifications made to the equipment without expressed acknowledgement from ARJO will invalidate the supplier’s product liability.

WARNING Do not stack or place electrical equipment near this devise. It can interfere with the equipment’s operation and safety.

CAUTION Do not use the hydrosound equipment for more than 15 minutes at a time with a 15 minute stop in between.

Disinfection / Autoclean

Basic functions Shampoo and Bath Oil 1 The Bath Oil and Shampoo bottles are placed behind a door on the right side of the panel. The bottles should be mounted, sufficiently filled and connected to their corresponding hoses and bottle connections. 2

Bath Oil and Shampoo is dispensed by pressing corresponding push button on the control panel. Hold your hand under the shampoo outlet when shampoo is dispensed. Dosage will continue as long as the button is pressed. When your bath system is equipped with Hydrosound, the Bath Oil is replaced with ArjoSound Water Conditioner. Autofill function The bath system is equipped with an autofill function, which is preset to one water level. For adjustments, call your Arjo Service Department for assistance.

Resident shower 3 There resident shower is on the right side of the panel. 4 Press the resident shower button on the control panel (the LED above the button indicates when the resident shower is activated).The resident shower can not be activated during tub filling. 5 Lift off the shower handle, hold it over the bath and press the trigger on the handle. 6 Allow a few seconds for the water to reach the desired temperature. Direct the water stream away from the resident and check the preset temperature setting on the display. If desired, adjust the water temperature by using the knob on the panel. 7 Also check by placing your hand in the water stream to make sure that the water temperature feels correct, before the water stream is directed on to the resident.

Scalding protection The Century Bath is equipped with a scalding protection to reach a maximum safety for the resident. The function is always activated during filling, showering and cleaning. The scalding protection will activate before the water temperature gets too high. The following will happen: First, the actual autofill function will be interrupted, then the tub filling LED will flash for approx.10 sec. Following steps have to be done before the scalding protection is reset and filling can resume. After LED has stopped flashing • turn the knob on the thermostatic mixer to COLD •

press the filling button until the display shows 30-35° C (86-95°F).

Now, the bath is ready to use again.

Hydromassage

Before the hydromassage starts, the tub should be filled with water at the desired temperature over the hydromassage outlet (A).

The hydromassage from the built-in jet starts when the hydromassage button on the control panel is pressed.

After 15 minutes, the treatment will automatically end. During those 15 minutes, the treatment can be stopped by pressing the hydromassage button.

The water flow is adjusted with the knob on the upper right side of the bath tub. Start at a low intensity by turning the knob counter clockwise. The intensity of the water flow is increased by turning the knob clockwise. See picture.

Adjust the direction of the water-jet by turning the hydromassage outlet (5a). Remove the adjustable hydromassage nozzle if you want the jet to cover a wider area (Just pull it out) (5b).

When the hydromassage is finished, press the hydromassage button on the control panel.

Treatment hose (optional accessory for hydromassage) 1

If hydromassage is activated, stop it by pressing the hydromassage button before the treatment hose is connected. Remove the hydromassage nozzle (Just pull it out).

Connect the treatment hose to the quick coupling in the bath tub. (The treatment hose and the built-in jet within the tub cannot be used simultaneously.)

Direct the treatment hose nozzle into the water. Make sure the air inlet (A) is above the water surface.

Hydromassage from the treatment hose starts when the hydromassage button on the control panel is pressed. (After 15 minutes, the treatment automatically ends. During these 15 minutes, the treatment can be stopped by pressing the hydromassage button.)

To adjust the jet stream intensity, turn the outermost part of the treatment hose nozzle. When the two dots on the nozzle are aligned, the jet stream is at its most intensity. When turning the nozzle 90°, the jet stream intensity decreases. When turning the nozzle 90° more, the jet stream intensity increases and so on (see figure).

When the local treatment is finished, press the hydromassage button on the control panel.

Remove the treatment hose from the quick coupling by pushing the hose while pulling the hose bracket.

Hydrosound Using the Hydrosound system WARNING Hydrosound should not be used by pregnant women as the unborn child could be particularly sensitive to the sound waves. ARJO Hydrosound is a method of cleaning patients by means of low frequency, low intensity ultra sound. Working together with water, it’s an effective and skin friendly method of cleaning the skin. The amount of time and intensity setting used for Hydrosound cleaning is a matter of choice consistent with the degree of patient cleanliness required and patient comfort. The longer the time of exposure and the greater the intensity setting, the more efficient the cleaning will be. For patients experiencing Hydrosound for the first time, it is recommended that the intensity is set at the lower levels before using the higher intensity settings.

Prepare the bath according to the section “Preparations for Bath”. 1

WARNING Do not use bath oils and skin conditioners other than ArjoSound together with the Hydrosound as they may inhibit the ultra sound pressure waves. 2

Make sure that the water level covers the top of the Hydrosound Transducer Plate (A).

Start the hydrosound by pressing the hydrosound button on the control panel. After 15 minutes, the treatment automatically ends. During those 15 minutes, the treatment can be stopped by pressing the hydrosound button.

It is possible to select different intensity levels by turning the knob on the upper right side of the bathtub. The intensity is increased by turning the knob clockwise. The levels 20, 40, 60, 80 or 100 mW/cm2 will be chosen step by step. The diode lamp (B) will show a steady green light and a buzzing sound will be heard when any active level is selected. The sound will increase with each higher level. A flashing yellow light will be shown when in test mode. To turn it off, press the hydrosound button. The same flashing yellow light will also be shown in normal mode if problem occurs during the treatment. See figure.

Bathe the resident with hydrosound activated.

WARNING Continuous skin contact with the Hydrosound Transducer Plate (illustration 2 - A) may cause burn injuries.

Add Arjosound Water Conditioner after activating the filling process. Press the Arjosound dispenser button on the control panel. Check that the conditioner mixes into the water.

WARNING Do not place the residents head below the water surface or in the vicinity of the Hydrosound Transducer Plate 6

Press the hydrosound button on the control panel to stop the hydrosound.

Raise the resident out of the water and then rinse the resident thoroughly with the shower to remove loosened particles from the skin.

Bathing Preparations for bath The bath is prepared as following: 1

Close the drainage plug.

For the Autofill function, press the tub filling button to fill the tub with water. (The level is preset.) Additional filling is achieved by pressing the tub filling button continuously. The display will show the filling temperature.

To intercept the Autofill function, when the desired level is reached, press the button to stop the filling. The display will show the filling temperature.

Sitting resident 4

Sitting resident may be lifted without effort from their bed or wheelchair by using the Alenti or Calypso lift hygiene chair.

See Alenti or Calypso Instructions before use.

10 Bathe the resident. 11 After bathing, let the water run out of the bath and sit the resident up. Position the back rest against the resident's back. Raise the lift hygiene chair to a convenient working height and then start showering the resident. 12 Dry the resident, as well as the underside of the seat, to prevent water from dripping on to the floor prior to moving the lift hygiene chair away from the bath. Raise the lift hygiene chair, and pull it away from the end of the bath. Help the resident to move their legs over the edge of the bath. 13 When moving the resident straight from the bath to the bed, put a bath towel on the bed under the lift hygiene chair's seat to avoid making the bed wet. Dry the resident thoroughly after they are put in bed.

WARNING To avoid risk of injury, ensure that the resident keeps their hands on the hand rest while being raised and lowered in the lift hygiene chair, as well as during any movement and transport. 5

Check the bath water temperature with your bare hand before the resident enters the water.

Position the lift hygiene chair next to the end of the bath.

Raise the lift hygiene chair to a position where it is clear from the edge of the bath and move the resident over.

WARNING Make sure all resident parts are clear from the tub rim before moving over the bath and lowering into the tub. 8

If desired and if the resident is capable, rotate the back rest out of the way, this allows the resident to recline against the back of the tub.

Position the lift hygiene chair in the middle of the bath and lower the lift as far as possible.

WARNING Make sure the resident's legs are stretched out in front of them and not trapped under the chair.

Disinfection/cleaning instructions Arjo Clean or (Arjo Cen Kleen IV in the US and Canada) For optimal performance use only ArjoClean (Arjo Cen-Kleen IV). For any questions regarding the proper disinfection procedure or for liquid product ordering information, call our liquid product consultants at the service office listed on the back cover of this manual. Disinfection and cleaning will minimize cross-contamination and removing tissue residue.

WARNING Failure to follow proper disinfection and cleaning between baths can potentially lead to severe cross-contamination between residents

Preparations 1

Open the access door on the left side of the panel and place a bottle of ArjoClean (Arjo Cen-Kleen IV) and connect the bottle connection.

Grab the disinfectant spray handle, and direct it against the bottom of the bath tub.

Press the disinfectant button on the control panel (the LED above the button indicates when the disinfection is activated).

Check the liquid value on the flow meter when the disinfection function is active, so it is in accordance with the setting range in the recommendations.

If necessary, adjust the screw on the bottle.

If your bath system is equipped with hydromassage go to page 26.

NOTE The disinfection/cleaning process can only be started when all other functions are turned off. Disinfectant/cleaning spray The spray handle is placed behind the access door on the left side of the panel and has a trigger handle.

NOTE Make sure that the disinfection hose is placed to the right behind the cover when not in use. (see picture 1)

WARNING Always use protective gloves and protective eye wear when dealing with concentrated disinfectant. Avoid getting it on your skin or in your eyes. If contact occurs, rinse with large amounts of water. If skin or eyes become irritated, consult a physician. Carefully follow the instructions on the ArjoClean (Arjo Cen-Kleen IV).

Hydrosound/ Still bath Procedure to be performed before the first bath of the day and then after every resident.

NOTE Look at the flow meter and make sure that there is an appropriate mixture of disinfectant liquid to the water. After finishing the preparations on page 22 do the following: 1

Scrub and rinse tub and accessories if necessary, to remove visible tissue residue or fluids before the disinfection process.

Close the drainage plug.

Direct the disinfectant spray handle against the bottom of the bath tub.

Press the disinfectant button.

Spray the whole bath tub and lift with the disinfectant spray handle.

Spray on the surface of the overflow outlet.

Press the disinfectant button, and place the disinfectant spray handle back behind the access door.

Scrub the tub using the disinfectant that is collected at the bottom of the bath tub.

Let the ArjoClean (Arjo Cen-Kleen IV) take effect according to the recommended time labelled on the bottle.

10 Open the drainage plug. 11 Press the button for resident shower on the control panel and rinse bath tub and accessories carefully with the resident shower. 12 Examine tub and accessories to ensure that all of the disinfectant cleaner is removed. Repeat rinse as needed. 13 Press the button for resident shower on the control panel. 14 Examine tub and accessories for visible damage. 15 After the last disinfection/cleaning of the day, dry the bath tub and lift.
