Use/intended use:
Task/Function The rechargeable batteries supply power to the Acculan units and contain the circuitry required to activate and control the electric motors of the Acculan units in accordance with operator commands. Application Environment The product fulfills the requirements of Type BF in accordance with IEC/DIN EN 60601-1. For use in operating rooms, outside of the explosive hazard zone (e.g. areas with highly pure oxygen or anesthetic gases).

Note The user must report all serious incidents occurring in connection with the product to the manufacturer and to the competent authority of the country in which the user is registered.

nical condition.

Safe operation
WARNING Risk of injury and material damage due to inappropriate use of batteries! ► Charge battery only in the Acculan 4 charger GA320 or Acculan 3Ti charger GA677. ► Insert battery correctly (Acculan machine and charger). WARNING Risk of injury and material damage due to damaged batteries! ► Check batteries for any damage before charging. ► Do not use or recharge damaged batteries. CAUTION Total battery failure can occur if the batteries are left in the charger while it is disconnected from the power supply! ► Always keep the charger connected to the power supply. Indicator light for readiness for service must be lit. ► Always remove batteries from the charger when it is disconnected from the power supply. CAUTION Loss of capacity/performance due to prolonged storage of discharged batteries! ► Leave the batteries in the functional charger after they have been successfully charged (trickle charging). ► For proper loading and removal of the battery from the Acculan
machine, see the instructions for use for the respective Acculan machine.
Operating principle
The Acculan NiMH battery supplies the Acculan machine with voltage. The battery is charged in the Acculan 4 charger GA320 or Acculan 3Ti charger GA677. The charging process of a completely discharged battery can take up to 120 min. The speed and rotational direction are set depending on the trigger setting of the machines: ■ for saws and Dermatome: speed clockwise ■ for drills: speed clockwise, counter-clockwise, oscillation and pilgrim step

Processing process
7.1
General safety information
Note Observe national statutory regulations, national and international standards and directives, and any proprietary hygiene instructions for processing. Note The applicable national regulations concerning the reprocessing of devices must be observed for patients having Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD), suspected of having CJD, or possible variants of CJD. Note It should be noted that successful processing of this medical device can only be guaranteed following prior validation of the processing method. The operator/processor shall be responsible. Note If there is no final sterilization, then a virucidal disinfectant must be used. Note See also B. Braun eIFU at eifu.bbraun.com for current information on processing and compatibility of material

General notes

Only process chemicals that have been tested and approved (e.g. VAH or FDA approval or CE mark) and which are compatible with the product’s materials according to the chemical manufacturers’ recommendations may be used for processing the product. All the chemical manufacturer's application specifications must be strictly observed. Failure to do so can result in the following problems: ■ Optical changes of materials, e.g. fading or discoloration of titanium or aluminum. For aluminum, the application/process solution only needs to be of pH >8 to cause visible surface changes. ■ Material damage such as corrosion, cracks, fracturing, premature aging or swelling. ► Do not use metal cleaning brushes or other abrasives that would damage the product surface and could cause corrosion.

Device-specific safety information on the reprocessing method DANGER Risk of electric shock and fire hazard! ► Do not use flammable or explosive cleaning or disinfecting solutions. ► Ensure that no fluids will penetrate the product. CAUTION Damage to, or destruction of the product caused by mechanical cleaning/disinfection! ► Only clean and disinfect the product manually. ► Do not sterilize the product under any circumstances.
Reusable products
CAUTION Risk of damage to the product due to inappropriate cleaning/disinfecting agents! ► Only use cleaning/disinfecting agents approved for surface cleaning. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for the respective cleaning/disinfecting agent. ► Do not introduce any fluid onto the electrical contacts of the battery.
The service life of the product is limited by damage, normal wear, type and duration of the application, handling, storage and transportation of the product. Careful visual and functional testing prior to next use is the best way to identify a malfunctioning product.

Inspection, maintenance and checks
► Inspect the product after each cleaning and disinfecting cycle to be
sure it is clean, functional and undamaged. ► Set aside the product if it is damaged.

Maintenance
The display "Battery replacement recommended" on the Acculan 3Ti charger GA320 (see TA014535) indicates when the battery should be replaced due to reduced capacity. No other maintenance measures must be performed on the battery. For corresponding services, contact your national B. Braun/Aesculap agency, see Technical Service.

DANGER Danger to life of patients and users in case of malfunctions and/or failure of protective measures! ► Do not perform any servicing or maintenance work under any circumstances while the product is being used on a patient.
► In order to prevent damage during transport, ship product in the orig-
inal packaging and in an outer carton. ► If the original packaging is no longer available, ensure the following when packaging the product: – The battery contacts are protected against short-circuit. – The packaging completely encloses the product. – The product is secured against movement within the packaging. ► Completely charge the product upon receipt and before extended periods of storage.
