Riser Recliner Instructions
Sitting:
1
To sit in a riser/recliner chair you should raise the chair to its fullest height by PRESSING the TOP RIGHT
BUTTON on your handset. The chair will lift and tilt forward stopping automatically when it has reached its
fullest height

Once the chair has stopped you should position yourself between the arms by backing towards the seat and
allow the back of your legs to touch the seat. Once you have reached this position and you feel secure you
are ready to lower the chair

By PRESSING the TOP LEFT BUTTON on your handset the chair will start to lower, at this stage you should
allow yourself to follow the chair down by sitting on the seat during the downward movement until you feel
the chair stop
Recline the back:

To recline the back of your chair and obtain the best posture position for your back and comfort, PRESS the
BOTTOM LEFT BUTTON on your handset and release the button when you feel that you have achieved a
position which you feel comfortable with

To bring the back of your chair to a more upright position you should PRESS the BOTTOM RIGHT BUTTON
until you have achieved a comfortable position or until it stops moving automatically
Raise the foot board:

To raise the foot board PRESS the TOP LEFT BUTTON until you have achieved a comfortable position or until it
stops moving automatically

To lower the foot board PRESS the TOP RIGHT BUTTON until you have reached a comfortable position or until
the foot board no longer moves
Rising:
To raise the chair enabling you to safely exit, you should continue to keep the TOP RIGHT BUTTON pressed
as this will ensure that the foot board is fully closed before allowing you to raise the chair to a near standing
position and exit

Ensure that objects are not too close to the foot board
Walking aids should be kept to the side of the chair except when exiting
Do not put any objects down the sides of the seat
When operating or transporting the chair please ensure electrical wires are clear of moving parts
The chair should be lowered to the sitting position when not in use
The chair will only move when one of the buttons is pressed & stop when released or when the
motor reaches its full cycle
Ensure that the chair is not too close to a wall
*IMPORTANT: TRANSPORTING THE CHAIR*
IF YOU NEED TO TRANSPORT THIS CHAIR THE METAL FRAME MUST BE OFF THE FLOOR TO AVOID DAMAGE:

BRING THE CHAIR INTO A NORMAL SITTING POSITION

PRESS THE TOP LEFT BUTTON UNTIL YOU HEAR A ‘CLICK’ (JUST BEFORE THE FOOT BOARD STARTS TO RISE)

LIFT UP THE MATERIAL AT THE REAR OF THE CHAIR TO CHECK THE METAL FRAME IS OFF THE FLOOR

Hoist compatibility for Riser Recliner Chairs
When using the bariatric riser recliner, hoisting is achieved by tilting the chair forward slightly
and inserting the hoist into the space between the castors and the seat foot rest
(please see images for clarification)
