SAFETY 2.5.2. Description of the safety devices Emergency stop button Pressing the emergency stop button immediately interrupts the power supply (battery pack or mains) to the operating table. Fig. 7: Emergency stop button
Pressure switch bar (BRUMABA CL GENIUS DTA-EYE and BRUMABA CL GENIUS DTN-EYE) In the version with double telescopic column, there is a pressure switch bar (1) on the underside of the control casing and battery pack or power supply unit casing. As soon as the pressure switch bar encounters an obstacle, the movement of the operating table is stopped. If the pressure switch bar is defective, the table will stop at 4.72 in (12 cm) above the floor. An error code will also be displayed. In the version with the standard telescopic column, the table stops at 4.72 in (12 cm) above the floor. This prevents the foot of the physician from becoming entrapped between the operating table and the floor, for example. Fig. 8: Pressure switch bar
Position monitoring
1 The position monitoring function that is integrated into the operating table's control system ensures that the patient always is in an ergonomic position. For example, the back section adjusts itself automatically as soon as the angle between the back section and the seat section is smaller than 100°. The position monitor can also measure the distance between the underside of the foot section and the floor. As soon as the foot section is closer than 12 cm to the floor, the foot section is lifted.
Temperature monitoring
The temperature monitor turns the battery off as soon as it detects overheating.
Error monitoring
In the event of errors, determined functions are deactivated and an error code is shown in the error code display.
14

SAFETY Single acting cylinders
The cylinders of the operating table are not enclosed on the top. This, for example, allows you to lift the foot section manually without having to use the control unit. This minimizes the risk of crushing.
Potential equalization connection and conductive castors or feet
Fig. 9: Potential equalization connection and conductive castors
Fig. 10: Potential equalization connection on the fixed solid axle
The operating table is made of conductive material so that electrostatic loads can be conducted through the padding, stainless steel hinges, the column and conductive castors or feet to the floor. If the floor is non-conductive, then it is necessary to earth the table through the potential equalization connection (fig. 9/1 or fig. 10/1). After installation, the frame and all conductive casing parts are connected to the potential equalization bar. Together with the ground fault circuit interrupter, this prevents ignition sparks and contact voltage in the event of error. Please contact BRUMABA if you have any further questions about this. The image on the left shows all conductive components in red.
Fig. 11: Conductive components of the construction
WARNING !
Mortal danger from contact voltage and ignition sparks! • Before putting the device into service, connect it to the potential equalization bar available on site and ensure that the potential equalization function is working properly. If there is no potential equalization or if this function is defective, there may be contact voltage and ignition sparks. This entails the risk of injury or even death.

SAFETY
NOTE
Wrong ambience temperatures and cutting off the power supply while charging can reduce the battery's service life! • Do not connect the battery to a socket that is not connected to a power supply overnight. • Do not disconnect the battery before it has been fully charged. • Observe the ambient conditions of the operating table described in chapter 12.4 on page 77 when storing the battery and using the table. The battery service life depends on the ambient temperature and the number of charging cycles. The warmer the room in which the battery is stored or the operating table is used, the shorter the battery service life. With every connection of the charger to the power supply, a new charging cycle starts regardless of whether the battery has been charged completely in the previous charging cycle or not. However: it is better to charge the battery too early than too late!
NOTE
Reduction of the battery life cycle due to total discharge of the battery! • Always check the battery level after switching on the table. • Charge the battery as soon as the yellow LED lights up. When the battery is completely discharged, the service life decreases or the battery gets damaged.
Residual electrostatic potentials
WARNING !
Danger to life and of fire due to residual electrostatic potentials! • Only use the operating table on a conductive floor or with connected potential equalization. • Do not use the operating table in rooms in which easily flammable material such as disinfectant is stored. Friction from the patient on the operating table can lead to the build-up of electrostatic potentials, which can ignite flammable material.
Interference with other equipment
WARNING !
WARNING !
There is danger when doing an MRI at the same time! • Do not use the operating table with an MRI. When doing an MRI at the same time, it can lead to electromagnetic interaction
Risk from high frequency surgical devices, defibrillators and defibrillator monitors. • Follow the manufacturer's instructions for the device. • In the event of an error, press the emergency stop button immediately. • Disconnect the operating table from the mains power supply. Using high-frequency surgery devices, defibrillators and defibrillator monitors can cause unpredictable positional changes, burns and danger due to current.
