Network Connection Set-up
Network Connection Set-up
Wired Ethernet network setup Note: This procedure assumes you have a functional Ethernet network. If not, setup and test your network before attempting to connect your 8300/8500. It is easier to test out Ethernet network configurations using a PC or laptop first, and then attempt to add your 8300/8500 to the network. The 8300/8500 needs almost the same configuration information as a PC.
To configure the ECG device for use with a wired Ethernet network: 1.
Press Setup,
2.
Use the arrow keys (Next and Previous) to scroll to Network connection and press Select. Refer to the Network connection worksheet on page 1-2 to configure the network connection fields. The fields that appear depend upon the network type that was selected.
3.
Enter your UTC/GMT time zone offset. This is the offset in hours (and optional minutes) the device applies to correct for your timezone. Note: You may need to subtract an hour from your offset during Daylight Savings Time (or your local equivalent) if your region requires it. Example: For Central Time zone (USA) enter "6" (winter) or "5" (summer), for Pacific Timezone (USA) enter "8" (winter) or "7" (summer), for Amsterdam enter "-1", and for Newfoundland enter "3:30".
4.
Connect the ECG device to your network. Attach an RJ-45 cable to the RJ-45 port on the back of the ECG device and attach the other end to an available RJ-45 Ethernet network port.

Caution: Possible data corruption This procedure requires you to access the Service Functions menu. The Service Functions menu is intended for qualified Service personnel. If you have any question, please contact Technical Support. Note: This procedure assumes you have a functional wireless Ethernet (802.11) network. If not, setup and test your network before attempting to connect your 8300/8500. It is easier to test out wireless network configurations using a PC or laptop first, and then attempt to add your ECG device to the network. The ECG device needs almost the same configuration as a PC. Note: Wireless 802.11 adapters are also compatible with 802.11g (54 MB/sec) wireless 802.11 networks. Note: Before attempting to configure your unit for wireless communications, be sure you have purchased the wireless 802.11 option from Cardiac Science.
To configure your ECG device for use with a wireless 802.11 network: 1.
Press Setup,
2.
Use the arrow keys (Next and Previous) to scroll to Network connection and press Select. Refer to the Network connection worksheet on page 1-2 to configure the 802.11 setup fields. The fields that appear depend upon the wireless security method that was selected. Note: If you selected the wireless security option Supplicant config, refer to Appendix A for detailed instructions.
3.
Connect the 802.11 wireless adapter to the USB port on the back of the ECG device. Note: Do not plug your USB adapter into your RJ-45 Ethernet connector, as it will not work if plugged into the wrong receptacle.
4.
Verify the configuration works with your wireless network: a. Press Setup. b. Use the arrow keys (Next and Previous) to scroll to Service functions and press
Select. The system displays a warning message. Press Select to proceed.
