Cleaning, disinfection and sterilisation The protocols described in this section must only be carried out by personnel qualified to clean, disinfect and sterilise the dental materials specified here in.  Cleaning and disinfection instructions Applicable for surgical and prosthetic instruments and boxes.  1 - Disassembly • Disassemble the instruments that need to be cleaned and disinfected, such as manual ratchets, drills or drill stops. • Remove all the different components from the surgical or prosthetic instrument box for correct cleaning.  2 - Cleaning • Submerge the instruments in a cleaning product solution that is specifically designed for dental instruments to help remove any adhered biological residues.  • Remove any biological residues by hand using a soft brush and pH-neutral detergent. • Rinse with plenty of water.  • To disinfect instruments with ultrasonic equipment, submerge the material in the ultrasonic bath. • Rinse with plenty of water to remove all traces of disinfectant.  • Rinse again with deionised water. • When cleaning surgical and prosthetic instrument boxes, always use a pH-neutral detergent and non-abrasive tools to avoid damaging the surface of the boxes.  3 - Disinfection • Submerge the instruments in a disinfectant product specifically designed for dental instruments.  • Dry the material with filtered compressed air.  4 - Inspection • Check that the instruments are perfectly clean; if not, repeat the cleaning and disinfection steps above.  • Check that the instruments and surgical and prosthetic instrument boxes are perfectly dry before reassembling the parts and proceeding with sterilisation.  IMPORTANT Follow the instructions given by the disinfection equipment manufacturer to determine concentrations and times and the instructions given by the ultrasonic equipment manufacturer to determine temperature, concentrations and times.  • Discard any instruments with imperfections and replace them before the next surgery. Storage of DentPross® products • Store the products in their original packaging in a clean, dry place until they are to be used. • After sterilisation, keep the products in the sealed sterilisation bags and in a clean, dry location.  • Instruments and surgical and prosthetic instrument boxes must always be sterilised prior to use and cleaned and disinfected after use. • Do not clean, disinfect or sterilise instruments made of different material together. • Sterilisation, cleaning and disinfection processes gradually deteriorate the instruments.
