Soft Water Monitor  Installation and Operation Manual  1. General Information The SWM-A is a Soft Water Monitor that continously checks a soft water supply line for hard water whenever there is flow in the line. The system consists of the following components: - 1 SWM-A with transformer - Flow Controller - Lining for connection  SWM -A  2. Application of SWM-A The system is used for monitoring a soft water supply for hardness. The system requires sodium chloride solution (brine) and water. Limits of application:  Flow controller  Temperature of raw water: max. 30 °C Surrounding temperature: always  > 0 °C max. 40 ° C  Inlet pressure:  min. 2,5 bar max. 6 bar no water hammer  Electric power supply and water pressure must remain on at all times. The inlet water must to be free from iron, manganese and other heavy metals. Oil and organic matter must not be present. City water normally meets these specifications.  the flow controller to the SWM-A. Connect red drain line to a drain. Put brine pickup into a brine tank. Make sure power supply is available for transformer. Keep tubes as short as possible. Electric connection: When cover is removed the controller is visible. The following alarm signals are available: output #2 is open when no alarm output #3 is closed when no alarm  3. Installation The controller needs electric supply, soft water, brine and a drain connection. Best install SWM-A as close as possible to the softener to be monitored. Install flow controller in soft water line. Observe arrows for direction of flow and connection to SWM-A. Install SWM-A on a wall or flat space close to the flow controller.
