2 1.0 Introduction With your purchase of the EUROMEX cold light source LE.5211 you have chosen a quality product. The LE.5211 cold light source is developed for use in education, laboratories and industry. The LE.5211 is extremely usefull for photo-micrography The maintenance requirement is limited when using the LE.5211 in a decent manner. This manual describes the construction of the cold light source, how to use the cold light source and maintenance of the cold light source.

5.0 Preparing the cold light source LE.5211 for use Warning: The air inlets on the front, aswell as the air outlets on the back should never be covered.
Insert a light conductor into the connector (C) in such a way that the flat side of the connector points to the left, in the direction of the set-screw (B). The light conductor should always be fully inserted. Now tighten the set-screw (B) to secure the light conductors position. The EUROMEX LE.5211 is now ready to be used. Connect the cable to the mains supply, and turn the light intensity regulation knob (F) to the right as to the point were the arrow points to digit 1. The bulb will light up and the fan will start running. By turning the light intensity regulator with a scale of 0 – 10 to the right, the light intensity is increased. By doing this the colour temperature of the exiting light is increased (maximum 3200°K.) Comparing the use on digit 10, the use on digit 9 has a positive effect on the life-time of the halogen bulb. When using the LE.5211 for photo-micrography the digit nr. 10 is recommended, since on this digit the colour temperature is 3200°K. For a perfect colour balance, one should use a day-light film, together with conversion filters LE.5231 mounted in the focusing heads LE.5222, preferably with mounted aspherical condenserlenses LE.5224 (all optional)
After use simply shut the instrument down on digit 0. If the instrument should be moved after use, it is recommended to put the light intensity regulator as low as possblie, and leave it for a few minutes in order to cool down the halogen bulb.
4 6.0 Using the light conductors The self-sustaining and flexible light conductors are equipped with glass-fibres for maximum conductivity of light, and should be treated as follows: Carefully point the conductor towards the object and only bend the conductor in one direction. The bending radius "R" of the light conductor should never be lower as 50 mm. because otherwise the metal construction of the light conductor can be damaged. This can cause instability and inflexibility.
7.0 Maintenance and cleaning After use the instrument should be cooled down. The instrument can easily be cleaned with a soft cloth.
7.1 Exchanging the halogen bulb Always pull the plug from the mains socket first and let the instrument cool down for a few minutes.
Warning:
Remove the cover (G) by pushing the hole of the cover slightly with one hand, while the other hand pulls the cover backwards. Take the bulb and reflector out of its holder and remove it from the fitting. Place a new halogen bulb into the fitting and put it back into its holder. Place back the cover, taking care it is not placed in a wrong way.
7.2 Thermical security device The cold light source LE.5211 is equipped with a built-in tranformer with a thermical security device. In case of extreme heat, the instrument will shut down itself at a temperature of about 70°C. After having cooled down enough, the instrument will switch itself on again.
8.0 Spare parts SL.5235 SL.5240 AE.5212
Spare halogen bulb 15V-150W (average given lifetime is 50 hours on digit 10) Spare “longlife” halogen bulb 15V-150W (average given lifetime is 500 hours on digit 10) Set of 10 fuses 250V-1,25 A – Slow.
