General conditions
Fixing Fixing materials of all types must as a minimum comply with national requirements and standards. Only approved fixing elements may be used and they must be suitable for the individual installation – e.g. suitable for fixing to concrete, wood, etc. Each suspension point in ceiling constructions must be rated to withstand a load of at least 1.5 times the rated load of the rail system. Use only lock nuts. Fischer’s product liability does not apply if lock nuts are fitted on Fischer’s FAZ anchors. If the customer insists on this, ”Loctite” or simular must be used instead. Tighten all bolts and nuts with torque in accordance with applicable rules - M10 = 42 Nm. Tighten Hilti HUS-H screws with torque to 35 Nm. Important The user of this installation guide should note that the fixing devices are those recommended by Guldmann and constitute minimum requirements. When selecting fixing elements, the installer must in each individual situation take the ceiling and wall constructions into consideration. V. Guldmann A/S shall not be held liable beyond its normal product liability unless V. Guldmann A/S installers carried out the installation work.
Testing the rail system Test the rail system following setup in accordance with the inspection form; see section on page 91. The rail system must be tested in accordance with the control table after installation, i.e. tested at 1.5 times its rated load and then marked with the rated load, the initials of the installer, and the installation date. Each section of the rail system must be regarded as an individual system and be tested and marked individually. The system must be operated with a load of 1.5 times its rated load, and observed to ensure the correct function of components and the solidity of the attachment. After a full test operation of the rail system, it must be load tested again for at least 20 minutes. The selected brackets must be load tested for at least five minutes. The load must be placed as close to the brackets as possible. If there are less than four brackets in the system, testing time per bracket must be increased. Where different fixing elements or fixing materials are used to install the system, or where ceiling constructions have been changed, the system must be tested in each of these situations. Fixing elements must not become deformed or change shape in any way. NB! The rail system must be tested in order to ensure that it is 100% safe and stable in use. If it is considered necessary or in cases of doubt, the system must be tested again to the extent that this is appropriate.

Reservations The warranty shall not cover defects or damage which can be attributed to causes other than defects in workmanship and materials. For the warranty to apply any repair work must have been undertaken by the Guldmann Service Team or other service technicians/repairers recommended by Guldmann.
Product liability In relation to product liability the current rules under Danish law shall apply. The Seller shall never be held liable for operating losses, loss of earnings and other indirect losses. Product liability insurance which includes cover against injury and property damage has been taken out. Any disputes between the parties shall be settled by the Maritime and Commercial Court in Copenhagen (Sø- og Handelsretten) in pursuance of Danish law
1. Introduction
General conditions
Installation in corrosive surroundings Special guidelines must be observed when installing the rail system around swimming pools, etc. The surfaces of the brackets used, traverse travelling trolleys, etc., must be painted. Hoists, switch tracks, Combi-locks, etc., must be supplied with a special surface treatment. All fixing elements, nuts, washers, threaded rods, must be acid-proof. Acid-proof threaded rods and dual-component adhesive must be used for installation in concrete, tiles, etc. Through-going threaded rods or acid-proof screws must be used for installation in wood. Particular care should be taken to avoid damaging the surface of painted components. Washers made of synthetic material must be used in between painted surfaces and nuts and ordinary washers. Damaged paint must be repaired after installation, and visible threaded rods, nuts, washers, etc., must be covered with paint RAL 9010 – white. Hidden threaded rods, nuts, washers, and brackets in the rail track must be treated with a silicone coating. Wherever possible, nuts must be fitted with protective caps. There must be no swarf, dirt, or other impurities in the rail system as they will accumulate moisture and lead to corrosion. Bearings in traverse travelling trolleys must be treated with a silicone coating before installation.
Installing rail systems with rated loads of more than 250 kg (550 lbs) Certain precautions must be taken when installing rail systems with rated loads of more than 250 kg (550 lbs). Room-covering rail systems and straight rail sections including rail curves can be installed in cases where there is a rated load of more than 250 kg (550 lbs). Other rail components must not be used. A heavy duty model traverse travelling trolley must be used in connection with room-covering rail systems. Bracket types must be chosen in accordance with the list of components, certain types of bracket must not be used in connection with these installations. Rails must be installed on top of the fitting when wall brackets and floor posts are used. The mutual distance between brackets must be adapted to the type of rail in question in accordance with the instructions. Two installation elements, must be used per bracket when installing the system in a concrete ceiling or wall, in accordance to the list page 40-41. Ceilings and walls made of materials other than concrete must be carefully inspected and tested for suitability. Special care should be taken when testing at 1.5 times the rated load.

1. Introduction
Rail systems in general
A rail system comprises one or more rails, which are installed on the ceiling, the wall or on freestanding wall studs. The rail system is constructed in modules. This makes it easy to create individual solutions and to adapt the system to existing buildings. The modules are easy to handle during fitting and transport. The flexible modules also make the system suitable for recirculation.
Rail systems can be installed anywhere. Private homes, hospitals, nursing homes, therapy clinics, riding centres and swimming pools are just some of the places where a rail system can help to improve the working environment for carers and heighten the quality of life for the disabled. A ceiling hoist system takes up no floor space, makes little noise and is always ready for use.
A rail system can either be a room-covering system, single track, or a combination of the two systems.
The ceiling hoist itself runs in the rail system. All Guldmann’s ceiling hoists lift with the help of a battery operated motor. The hoist is equipped with a hanger to which the sling is secured. The rail system that the hoist runs in can be: •
A room-covering system
•
Single track
•
A combination of the two systems
The hoist is manually operated or with the help

The room-covering rail system
The room-covering rail system comprises two parallel rails installed on the ceiling, the wall or on freestanding wall studs. A traverse rail runs between the parallel rails. The hoist itself glides backwards and forwards on the underside of the traverse rail in a travelling trolley. The mechanism is called a travelling trolley and has castors that run inside the track. The horizontal movement is a sliding motion that is comfortable for the user. The room-covering system makes it possible to lift the disabled person to and from any place in the room and is the optimum solution in rooms where many lifts are carried out.
Bracket

In addition the planner has considerable freedom to design the rooms in the building – both because the system saves space and because it offers flexibility when lifting a person. In some cases the parallel rails can be built into the ceiling so that only the lower part of them is visible.

Rail profiles
Installing a room-covering system saves space and provides an extremely high degree of freedom. The bed, a wheelchair and the other furniture in the room can be placed as desired and lifting can be carried out rapidly, easily and comfortably both with regard to the carer and the disabled person.

The single-track rail system
In its basic form the single-track rail system comprises a single rail in which the ceiling hoist runs. The system can be extended with curves of various angles, switch tracks and a turntable. The single-track system is very suitable for moving people over longer distances. Examples of this could be corridors, riding schools or swimming pools.

Bracket
Over and above this the single-track system can be used in the same situations and rooms as the room-covering system. But attention should be paid to the fact that wheelchairs, beds and other aid facilities must be located directly beneath the rail. This places limitations on the layout of the room due to the location of the rail.

Combination system
It is possible to combine rail systems in adjacent rooms with the help of a Combi-lock.
The Combi-lock locks the traverse rail and at the same time releases the safety lock. The hoist can then be run from one system to the other without problems.
A safety lock is installed in the traverse rail in the roomcovering system to prevent the hoist from running out of the rail.

Types of rail
There are four different types of rail: Mini, midi, maxi and jumbo.
The profile of the midi-rail differs from that of the others and cannot be used together with the other types of rail.
Mini-rails are normally used in single-track systems, as curves, the turntable and switch tracks are the same height as the mini-rail.
The overall height of the rails in a room-covering system can vary from 97 mm approx (3 15/16") for two mini-rails (mini traverse rail mounted between mini parallel rails) to 381 mm approx (15") for two jumbo-rails (jumbo parallel rails with underhanging jumbo traverse rail).
In certain cases it is possible to build in the rails in rooms with suspended ceilings, so that only the lower side of the rail is visible, both in connection with single-track and room-covering systems.
The traverse rail can be mounted between the parallel rails, be underhanging or be a combination of the two solutions.
Mini, maxi and jumbo-rails can be combined as required. Max. projection 0,3 0,5
