BEAM ARRANGEMENT BEAM POSITION OF THE BED MONITORING SYSTEM FIG.3
LOCATION & POSITION OF THE INVISIBLE BEAM
The invisible beam is approx. 1800mm long. It stops almost at the foot of the bed. To Find End of Beam [Fig.3] 1. Walk to the foot of the bed. Turn and face the bed monitor. Stand against the bed. 2. Find the end of the beam by slowly moving towards the bed monitor. An amber light shows in the bed monitor window when the beam is broken. The LED on the monitor Control Panel shows red [Fig.4] To Find Distance of Beam from Edge of Bed [Fig.3] 3. Move slowly from the side of the bed until the amber light goes off. The LED stays red. 4. If the beam is more than 150mm away from the edge of the bed, reset the beam using the Sensor Adjust lever at the rear of the bed monitor [Fig.2f] To Find Distance of Beam Above Bed [Fig.3] 5. Locate the height of the beam by moving your hand up/down until the amber light shows. 6. The end of the beam should be approx. 150mm above the bed. If not, gently tilt the bed monitor slightly up or down. 7. Re-check beam position. 8. Plug the Nurse-call Cable [Fig.2d] into the nurse-call wall socket. 9. Depress Function Switch on the end of the monitor [Fig. 4A] and hold, then press On/Off Switch – green LED glows. INVISA-BEAM BED MONITOR IS NOW ACTIVATED

COMPONENT SPECIFICATIONS PHOTOELECTRIC PROXIMITY SENSOR
The photoelectric proximity sensor utilises an infrared light source [880nm wavelength] with background suppression. There is no visible light from the sensor. The sensor consists of an emitter and a receiver in the same housing and uses a diffuse mode. The sensing range of the sensor is accurately determined by adjusting the background suppression. This adjustment must only be made by an authorised technician. The sensor model used is either SICK WT34-V210 or V220 Infrared Photoelectric Proximity Switch with background suppression. These models have a long scanning range [0-2500mm]. To maximise sensor performance INVISA-BEAM Bed Monitor utilises middle of range [0-1800mm]. NB - The timing function in the V220 model is not used. SICK WT34-V210 and V220 Infrared Photoelectric Switches meet all relevant International Standards. The infrared beam is not harmful to people [Ref - SICK Operating Instructions - ‘Proper Use’]. SENSOR SPECIFICATION
Scanning range 100 to 2500mm, adjustable Light source LED, infrared, 880nm Supply voltage 10 to 30 V DC Operating temperature +10ºC……..+40ºC DESKTOP POWER SUPPLY
To meet all standards, the INVISA-BEAM Bed Monitor must be used with ELJINTEK Model MPU30B Medical Approved Desktop Power Supply Input 100 – 240 VAC, 50 – 60 Hz, 0.8A Output 12 VDC regulated, 30W, 2.5A IEC 6061-1 CLASSIFICATIONS

TROUBLE SHOOTING PROBLEM
CHECK
ACTION
No light on Control Panel
• Plug at the main power point is plugged in and the power switch is ON • 12V plug is pushed in at the back of the monitor
• Press Function Switch and ON/OFF switches on the Control Panel again • If green light on the Control Panel will not come on, contact INVISABEAM technician
Red light on Control Panel
• Press Function Switch and ON/OFF Switch on Control Panel - Light should turn off
Red light on Control Panel does not turn off
An amber light will show in the window of the bed monitor and remain on while the sensor beam is still being broken by an object thus causing the LED to show on the Control Panel
• Is the bedding all tucked in and nothing protruding? • Hand or foot not poking out • Newspapers or magazines not falling across the beam • Sensor is aligned correctly
Red light remains on
Rotate bed monitor horizontally/ vertically and amber Sensor light should switch off
• Re-align the Sensor as described in Installation Instructions • If red light continues to remain on contact INVISA-BEAM technician
Red light does not come on when Sensor Beam is broken
Place hand in front of Sensor and the Sensor light should glow amber. If it does not glow and everything is connected correctly, then the Sensor could be faulty
Contact INVISA-BEAM technician
Nurse Station does not alarm when patient/resident breaks Sensor Beam
• Is nurse-call cable plugged into both the bed monitor and the nurse-call wall socket? • If it is connected properly, then there could be a faulty wall socket.
• Try disconnecting and reconnecting the cable to the wall socket. • Reset the bed monitor and try again. • If problem persists, contact INVISA-BEAM technician
