Skills Lab  NKV-550 Ventilator Pediatric  NKUniversity.org  Name _________________________________________________________ Unit ______________ Date __________________ This learning activity is an opportunity to practice some of the procedures you learned in the online and/or in-person product training course. It is designed as the next step toward achieving clinical, hands-on experience with the NKV-550 Ventilator. Directions: 1. Complete the following tasks using the NKV-550 Ventilator. 2. Refer to the clinical reference guides or consult the Respiratory Therapy Clinical Applications Specialist (RTCAS). 3. Check off each task as you practice it and return this completed sheet to the RTCAS.  NKV-550 VENTILATOR TASKS  3  NKV-550 VENTILATOR TASKS  Connect AC power, breathing circuit, biofilters, humidifier, and gas supplies to the ventilator.  Add an SpO2 cable, select the Sensors app button, enable sensor, and identify the locations of SpO2 %, Pulse Rate, and Signal Quality Bar.  Identify the Power On/Off button, AC power indicator, and turn the ventilator on.  Select the Inline Suction, Sensors, and Ptp apps to show in the non-expanded app area.  Identify the Encoder Knob, Control Settings buttons, the Status Bar, and Modes and Primary Controls area.  Change the waveforms to view three different parameters. Demonstrate how to change the scaling of the waveform.  Identify the Quick Access area, Apps area, Expansion icon, and Help icon.  Select the Waveform Freeze button to freeze and unfreeze the waveform.  Select patient type and input patient data for a Pediatric, 8 kg, female patient.  Select the Trends app, and then select two parameters to trend. Change to trend three parameters.  Select Invasive Ventilation, and conduct a Circuit Check.  Change each of the control settings separately: ΔPC – 25, RR – 25, Ti –0.6, PEEP +3, FiO2 – 21% and AutoSet alarms.  Select A/CMV-PC Mode. Set Δ PC – 30, Ti – 0.8, RR – 30, PEEP +5, FiO2 – 21%. Select the Apply All button.  Identify the current percentage of the backup battery pack and the extended battery pack.  Set a Slope % of 60%.  Demonstrate how to remove and insert the extended battery pack.  Identify the Alarms area, Messages, and Alarm Audio Pause button. Select Alarm Settings and AutoSet alarms.  Select the Standby app, and then select to power off the ventilator.  In the Numeric Monitors area, change to view the following parameters: PPEAK, PEEP, FiO2, and PMEAN.
