MK4S Tourniquet Operating Instructions and Preventative Maintenance Manual

1. OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS OF THE TOURNIQUET. (Dual channel machine) (Each channel) 1.

Ensure the actuator is in the deflate position.

2.

Connect the tourniquet machine to the gas supply.

3.

Set desired pressure by first turning and holding the actuator clockwise to pressure check position and turning the regulator control knob clockwise to increase the pressure, anticlockwise to decrease the pressure.

4.

Apply cuff to patient.

5.

Connect cuff supply tube marked outlet to the cuff.

6.

When ready turn actuator anti-clockwise to inflate position (Actuator will retain its position).

7.

The cuff will now be inflated to the pre-set pressure.

8.

The pressure at which the cuff is inflated can be altered at any time by turning the regulator control knob.

9.

DISCONNECTING - turn actuator clockwise to deflate position, the cuff will now deflate.

10.

Disconnect the cuff from the supply tube.

11.

Turn and hold the actuator clockwise to pressure check position and turn the regulator control knob anti-clockwise until pre-set pressure reads 0mm Hg.

12.

Disconnect machine from main gas supply.

IMPORTANT ALWAYS CHECK THE CUFF AND SUPPLY TUBE FOR LEAKS BEFORE COMMENCING.

2. TOURNIQUET TIMER. (Each channel) The timer module has an internal battery with a life of 1 years. The display indicates seconds hours and minutes. The timer will start automatically on inflate, on deflate it will pause and hold that time until your next inflation.

3. PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE

IMPORTANT. 1.

It is very important that cuffs and cuff connectors are checked before use. In the monthly inspection close examination of the cuff connector ‘o’ ring is needed.

Check pressure gauge calibration every 6 months.

Function Testing. Rotate knob clockwise (whilst holding actuator to pressure check) - it should stop between 500mm Hg & 760mm Hg (approx.). Connect test plugs to Cuff pressure hose, Set pressure on gauge to 400mm Hg. With pressure set at 400mm Hg and the actuator in the inflate position disconnect the Main air supply from the tourniquet machine. The cuff gauge should remain at 400mm Hg.

Cleaning of Tourniquet Machines. Clean the exterior of the unit carefully with a soft, damp soaped cloth, hard surface cleaner, alcohol or germicidal detergent may be used to remove any surface contamination. Do not use abrasive materials or excessive amounts of liquid.
