Turning the ventilator on • Start the ventilator by pressing the button on the right side of the device
• Then the following welcome screen appears : To display the results of the last manual test
To choose a preset ventilation mode To choose the previous ventilation mode

To set a new ventilation mode
Turning the ventilator off • Switch off the device by pressing the button on the right side of the device
• Depending on the ventilation status, current or not, one of the two following screens appear :
No ventilation
• Confirm you want to stop the ventilator © ResMed
While ventilating
Manual test • Doing a manual test allows : – –
To detect what type of patient circuit is used To determine the resistance / compliance of the circuit
• When doing a manual test ? – – – –
Each new patient Each time the ventilation program is changed When changing the circuit After adding / removing an accessory (humidifier …)
• Precautionary measures : – –
Connect all the accessories used for the ventilation Disconnect the ventilator from the patient
If the test fails, call your technical services © ResMed
Manual test • 3 measure stages : – – –

Sensors offset (O2, pressure …) Circuit inspiratory resistance Expiratory resistance (if double patient circuit), compliance and O2 sensor gain
Ventilation selection
5 preset programs Memorization of the whole ventilation configuration : - Mode - Type of patient - Ventilation parameters - Alarms settings
Reduction in training time for hospital staff ! Ideal to differentiate day / night ventilation !

New setting • To access to new ventilation programming, press the button “New patient” • The following screens allows to choose the patient configuration :
Each element of the configuration is reminded on the screen thanks to an icon © ResMed
New setting •
Once the patient configuration has been chosen, the following screen displays in order to choose the ventilation mode : Pressure modes
Volumetric modes
Dual mode
•
Once the mode has been selected, the screen of parameters setting appears

Ventilation modes : P(A)CV
• P(A)CV = Assisted Pressure-Controlled Ventilation The ventilator delivers cycles characterized by a fixed insufflation's time and pressure parameter –
PCV = cycles are released by the ventilator, insufflation does not depend on patient’s effort. A frequency should be adjusted.
–
PACV = inspiration can be released by the patient (trigger)
–
The change from PCV to PACV mode depends on inspiratory triggers adjustment
• In P(A)CV mode, the user can set recruitment cycles More about recruitment :
