1. ROCKET® CRAFT™ SUCTION PUMPS
1.1. General Description:
The Rocket® Craft™ Suction Pumps have been developed to provide a smooth, low volume
vacuum at a pre-determined negative pressure. Vacuum is activated by a foot operated switch
controlled by the surgeon performing oocyte collection.
The range of vacuum is variable from 0-400mm Hg and adjustable over this range by a pre-set
control. Vacuum is provided by a quiet diaphragm pump, working from a mains voltage supply
and manufactured to BS 5724 Class 1 and CE safety regulations.
The Rocket® Craft™ is supplied with both a reusable water trap set as standard designed to
help prevent aspirated fluids being drawn into the vacuum power unit. The trap also acts as a
reservoir to provide an even vacuum pressure during procedures. A single patient use,
disposable water trap set is also available.
The foot control has an air-operated solenoid, switching the main pump unit. No electrical
connections are made to the sealed foot operated control.
A suitable collection test tube for use with oocyte needle sets is B.D. Falcon test tube No.
2001F, 17 x 100mm.

2. OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS ROCKET® CRAFT™
VACUUM UNIT R29.654 & R29.655
9
Connect main lead to electrical supply 230/240 volt 50 Hz
(R29.655) or 110/120 volt 60 Hz. (R29.654)
9
The reusable water trap set should be packed and sterilised by
autoclaving at 135°C @ 3 bar for 3 mins. prior to each use.
9
Rocket Medical plc recommend the use of Rocket® Craft™
Single Use Water Trap sets which are available from your local
agent or Customer Services.
9
Using aseptic technique, unpack the water trap and insert the
glass water trap bottle into the clip at the left hand side of the
casing.
9
Connect the short tube to the port marked SUCTION and secure
with a light push fit.
9
Pass the longer patient connection tube into the operative field.
9
Connect foot switch tube to connector on front panel.
9
Activate vacuum by depressing foot switch. The pump will stop
when the foot is lifted from the pad.
9
Set the required vacuum required by occluding the vacuum line
distal (patient side) to the water trap and adjusting the control to
the desired level as shown by the needle on the gauge
Craft™ Single Use Water Trap Set
9
During the aspiration of the fluid the control knob may be adjusted to the
precise vacuum require under load, approximately 100-200mm Hg.
9
NOTE: Thinner gauge needles (17G) and those with longer tube sets, 7090cm may require vacuums in the region of 150-200mmHg to achieve
satisfactory flow rates.
9
The unit is then ready for use.
9
If vacuum lines become blocked due to debris or viscous fluids, a
temporary high vacuum can be obtained to unblock the needle and tubing
by occluding the finger bleed hole on the front panel, marked “OCCLUDE
FOR MAXIMUM VACUUM”. High vacuum should NOT be used to aspirate oocytes.
9
Placing a finger on the red disc for a few seconds will clear the tubing lines at 300-400mm Hg
temporary high vacuum.
9
On completion depress front panel
switch at “O” to switch the unit off.
