T8-3 Transducer Care WARNINGS Be sure to use the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) whenever necessary. DO NOT skip any steps or abbreviate the cleaning process in any way. Cautions DO NOT allow bodily fluids to dry on the transducer. Always clean the transducer immediately after use. DO NOT bend the endoscopic shaft smaller than a 20 cm (8 inch) curve. DO NOT drop the transducer. If it is dropped, perform an electrical safety test and temperature calibration prior to use. DO NOT use unapproved cleaning agents because they can damage the transducer and void the warranty. For more information about approved cleaners and disinfectants, see www.sonosite.com/support/cleaners-disinfectants.
DO NOT spray or immerse the controller, the cable, or the connector with any fluid. Be careful to prevent moisture from getting on the connector.
DO NOT soak the transducer longer than recommended by the chemical manufacturer. Follow the manufacturer’s recommendations for concentration, temperature, and duration.
Clean and disinfect transducer prior to use if it is not housed in a protective covering.

transducer. Immediately after use: a Use a clean cloth moistened with water to wipe the cable and controller. DO NOT wipe the connector. b Use a second clean cloth moistened with water to wipe the shaft and scan head. INSPECT the transducer for any sign of damage. DO NOT use the transducer if any damage is found.
STEP 5 During the soak: a Wipe cable and controller with a wipe approved for use on the cable and controller. DO NOT wipe the connector. CHECK the expiration date of the wipe. b Wipe shaft and scan head using a clean, soft cloth or sponge moistened with cleaner.
STEP 6 Rinse the
shaft and scan head with 3 minutes room- temperature running water for a minimum of 3 minutes. DO NOT rinse the cable or controller. INSPECT for any remaining biological material. Repeat cleaning if any is found.
STEP 7 Dry the
transducer with a clean, non-linting towel. INSPECT for any sign of damage. DO NOT use the transducer if any damage is found.

Testing for electrical leakage STEP 8 Set up the equipment: a Immerse the endoscopic shaft up to the 90 cm mark. Secure the controller so it cannot fall into the test solution.
(b)
b Insert the transducer connector into the transducer adapter.
For complete instructions on using the leakage tester, refer to the ULT2000 Series User Manual. (c)
(d)
STEP 9 Run the leakage test: a Power on the ULT-2020 leakage tester. b Press MODE repeatedly until Device Configuration appears.
(a) (e)
c Confirm that the leakage tester is set to the FUJIFILM Sonosite T8-3 transducer. If it isn’t, change the setting as required.
c Connect the transducer adapter to the leakage tester.
d Confirm that the endoscopic shaft, the scan head, and the conductivity probe contacts are all fully submerged in the leakage test fluid.
d Connect the conductivity probe to the leakage tester. e Immerse the conductivity probe contacts into an approved leakage testing fluid. DO NOT allow the probe to touch the transducer.
e Press FULL TEST to start the test. Ensure the shaft, scan head, and probe contacts remain submerged during testing. If the result is Fail, DO NOT use the transducer. Contact FUJIFILM Sonosite for repair.
Disinfecting STEP 10 Disinfect the transducer:
a Wipe the controller and cable with either a Sani-Cloth or a clean, nonlinting cloth moistened with disinfectant approved for use on cable and controller. DO NOT wipe the connector. CHECK the expiration date of the wipe, and follow ALL manufacturer’s instructions for contact time.
b If in accordance with facility policies, remove disinfectant after specified soak time by wiping with a clean, non-linting cloth or sponge moistened with water. c Soak up to 90 cm of the endoscopic shaft and scan head in disinfectant approved for immersing the shaft. Make sure the controller cannot fall into the solution. CHECK the expiration date of the disinfectant, and follow ALL chemical manufacturer’s instructions for soak time and temperature.
