GENERAL ITEMS These operating instructions provide the necessary information required to operate and maintain the sealer. It is in your interest to make your operating personnel aware of these instructions prior to using the device. The packaging machines are welding and sealing devices for the welding of thermoplastic films that means duplexing films according to the heatwelding and heatsealing method. The special characteristics are described more detailed in „appropriate use of the device“. These sealing machines are intended for industrial and business use and should only be used for the recommended purpose. The equipment should only be used by a skilled person. The machines are only intended for use in dry surroundings and must be protected from humidity. In the interest of technological progress, we reserve the right to modify the machine. As all other technical devices, also our devices are wearing out. In order to guarantee a faultless functioning, the devices have to be opened by an experienced person at least once a year and have to be cleaned thoroughly and safety-checked. The machine is only to be opened after the power plug has been pulled out. Please observe these instructions very carefully. If the machine is used by a person who is not able to read the operating instructions, the operator is obliged to undergo training. Should the customer make use of the guarantee, we reserve the right to make technical modifications in the interest of technical progress. Regarding spare parts and deterioration parts please only use parts recommended and approved by WIPAK. WIPAK will not accept any responsibility for resulting damages. QUALITY TESTING Every machine is subject to constant quality testing of the individual parts and of the finished assembly. We demand this quality testing from our suppliers, too. We cannot, however, guarantee the careful execution of their testing. All machines are built in accordance with the relevant regulations. Each electrical device is controlled according to the VDE-regulations.

DELIVERY AND CARRIAGE Every machine is supplied in its original packaging. Please check the contents carefully. Before disposing the packaging material, please set machine into operation to make sure that no parts are left inside the packaging. Action to be taken when damaged during transport occurs (even if the packaging is undamaged): Damage which occured during transport and which is not discovered under normal circumstances or which is reported too late, cannot be recovered. Therefore please check the consignment immediately ! Should the consignment be damaged on the outside, a complaint should be made on acceptance and the damage reported (copy to supplier). If damage is discovered after unpacking, a statement of the facts or negotiated letter should be sent immediately to the carriers. In this case, the packaging must be kept. The following periods for notifying damage should be observed for ensuring a claim against the carrier: Railway

In the event of damage an acknowledgement from the carrier on type and cause of damage is necessary. All other damage, for which one of the above mentioned occurrences cannot be proved, is attributable to the consignee or goes against transport insurance, if such was taken. INSTALLATION The device can be installed in each normal work-room. Please be careful to keep the machines away from dust, steam and splashed water. These can cause malfunction of the machine. The device must not be assembled and used in explosion-hazardous areas. ELECTRICAL CONNECTION ATTENTION ! The machine is only to be connected after you are sure of the conformity of the mains voltage and the voltage figures on the machine type plate. Only the switched-off machine may be connected with the supply mains. ATTENTION ! In case of any repair on the machine or on the power supply unit, first of all, pull out the power plug. Please only use plug connectors and plugs that are properly grounded.

WARRANTY 24 month warranty is given on machines when operated for an eight -hour day, i.e. where there are possible defects in material or manufacture, a replacement is made or the unit is repaired free of charge, according to which failure was detected.

Regarding outside products and parts we can only transmit the warranty granted to us by the manufacturer of these parts. All those parts liable to wear and tear, like heater, teflon, rubber and plastic parts, such as seals, glass and relays are excluded from warranty. Costs resulting from fitters travels are not part of the warranty. Further claims or rights of recourse of third parties are not acknowledged. The total warranty period is not being extended after warranty servicing has been done. A case of warranty does not justify the non-payment, even partly, of our invoices. Work only can be done under warranty if the following conditions are fulfilled : The machine was used in workmanlike fashion and in accordance with the operation instructions. Complaints were notified immediately, at the very latest 8 days after notice. No actions or modifications without our permission have been carried out at the machine. The machine must be returned free of charge to the manufacturer. The customer must have fulfilled his obligations. Transport damages are excluded from warranty. If the machine is damaged on return due to inadequate packaging the guarantee claim lapses.

Necessary repairs of damages caused by an improper use of the machine and no more under warranty, will be effected immediately at our best prices. In the interest of technological progress, we reserve the right to modify the machine.

We, WIPAK, do not accept any responsability for resulting damages.

SAFETY OF THE DEVICES The device obtained the GS test mark.

GENERAL SPECIFICATIONS The STERIKING RS 120 are continuous sealing machines especially developed for the sealing of sterilization paper bags resp. laminated paper pouches. The devices are not suitable for welding of pure polyethylene-, soft-PVC-, polyamid- and polypropylene-films.

Please pay attention that this operation manual has been read by your operation staff before the machine is set in operation.

INFORMATION REGARDING NOISE INTENSITY

The noise level produced while machine is operating is 47 dB(A).

SETTING INTO OPERATION 1.

Place mains connection cable with the grounding type plug into socket ( please pay attention on the voltage indication).

2.

Switch on machine with power switch.

3.

Preset required temperature by adjusting the value indicator at the temperature controller.

4.

As soon as the control lamp K1 lights up, the machine has finished heating up and is ready for operation.

5.

Adjust desired width of peel edge. After loosing the star handle screw the lower infeeding sheet can be shifted gradually from 5 to 35 mm.

6.

Switch the drive on by pressing the tumbler switch in position "I". Control lamp in switch lights up The drive only switches on if the adjusted temperature has been reached.

7.

Infeed sterilization pack over the infeeding sheets into the machine.

8.

Take out sterilization packing at the outfeed side. After short cooling of the sealing seam, check firmness. If the sealing seam shows pervious spots while tearing, the adjusted seal temperature is too low and has to be increased. On the other hand too high temperature values are indicated by a slight brown colour change of the paper and by dissolution of the film. According to the film type the reference values are situated between 120°C and 220°C. The optimal adjustment has to be found out by sealing tests.

9.

Switch off the machine after having finished all sealing works.

REPLACEMENT OF DETERIORATION PARTS CAUTION ! In case of any maintenance on the machine first of all pull out the mains connection plug ! Replacement of the tooth belts 1.

Let machine cool down.

2.

Lift off upper part of casing after removing the set screws.

3.

Dismount upper guide rail completely.

4.

Loose M13 hexagon nuts at upper and lower guide rollers (tension rollers). Slacken the tooth belts by moving the guide rollers.

5.

Take off the tooth belts from the guide and drive rollers.

6.

Replace tooth belts.

7.

Fasten M13 hexagon nuts slightly by hand.

8.

Stretch the drive belts by moving of the guide rollers. The correct tension is reached when the tooth belts can be lifted about approx. 15 mm at the center. Tighten M13 hexagon screws. CAUTION !

Belts that are too tight might cause damages at the bearings.

9.

Remount upper guide rail and press it slightly down, so that the rail has a pretension of 2-3 mm to the drive belt. Mount and tighten the washer and nuts.

10.

Start a test run; please be especially careful and do not grasp into the machine with the hands.

11.

Control ground wire.

12.

If the machine runs to your satisfaction, remount upper casing and tighten the screws.

13.

Reset device into operation as described above.

Replacement of the heating elements and the teflon covering If the heating elements and the teflon ribbons need to be replaced, the heating jaws must be removed completely, which causes additional adjustment. The job should only be performed by a skilled specialist; otherwise we recommend sending the machine to the producer for performance.
