How does it drive?
Speed control of the unit is based on operator input. The harder you push, the faster it will go.
How fast does it go?
Forward: Variable speed
0 - 4.5 mph
Reverse: Variable speed
0 – 2.5 mph
**Speed is not dependent on operating surface (carpet, tile concrete)**
What happens when I go up or down an incline?
Unit is capable of transporting a 700 lb patient up a 48 foot tiled ramp with a 10% grade with the
batteries in the “low-charge” state at a minimum of 1 mph
Unit will travel up the incline with little to no degradation in speed or force
How long do the batteries last?
4.5 hours of continuous run time with a 700lb patient moving at 2 mph
Under normal use, the batteries should last at least two shifts
To maintain battery life, the unit will go into “stand-by” after 20 seconds with no operator input
Contains a battery life indicator with solid LEDs displaying the remaining battery charge
**The LEDs will flash when the unit reaches a low-charge state
What happens if the battery dies while I am pushing a patient?
Manual/Drive switch allows for normal Big Wheel use when the batteries are dead
How long does it take to charge?
The unit will charge within 5 hours
Unit comes standard with a 6 amp charging system
The LEDs will all flash when the full charge cycle is complete
What kind of batteries are they?
2 sealed, lead acid, gel cell
Capable of being plugged in at any charge level without degrading the battery life
What if I’m not very strong?
Push force required to start unit is typically 4.5 lbs.
Maximum start up force is 10 lbs.
What if I let go of the unit?
Zoom will stop with a 700 lb patient within a maximum of 8 feet if traveling at 3.5 mph
If on an incline, the unit will creep down until at the bottom where it will come to a controlled stop
How do I slow down or stop?
1) Pull or push in the opposite direction of travel. The harder the force on the handles, the quicker the
stretcher will stop. Minimum stopping distance ≈ 3ft
2) Release the handle mounted switches. Stopping distance ≈ 6ft
How long will the batteries last on a charge?
The battery will provide a continuous run time of approximately 4 hours depending on the use
How long does it take to recharge the batteries?
The batteries will recharge in less than 5 hours from a fully discharged state.
