Acknowledgements We would like to thank all of those who have contributed to the development of Test Chart 2000over the years. We are grateful to Lea Hyvarinen for granting permission to use the Lea symbols and numbers and Hazel Kay for the use of the Kay pictures. We are also grateful to Professor Nathan Efron and Dr Philip Morgan for permission to use their contact lens complications grading images and to David Campbell-Burns for permission to use his contact lens fitting algorithms. We are indebted to the beta testers who were brave enough to start using the program in practice in the pioneering days and who have provided extremely valuable feedback over the years. We would also like to pay tribute to the many users of the program who have provided ongoing and thoughtful feedback about the evolution of the program. Test Chart 2000 was the first computerised test chart in the world and although many have now tried to copy the idea, our test charts are used in over 8000 consulting rooms worldwide, including many training institutions and major eye hospitals. We have maintained our leading position in the market by ensuring that our software is always at the cutting edge of vision assessment and by providing unrivalled user support.
We innovate – others imitate.

TEST CHART XPERT 3DI
The test chart for the 21st century Test Chart XPert 3Di is a Windows-based program designed to display a wide range of visual/ optometric test stimuli on a standard PC monitor, thus replacing a conventional backilluminated test chart or projector. Test Chart 2000 was originally developed by Professor David Thomson in the mid 1990s. While computer displays had been used extensively for vision testing in research laboratories, most clinicians were still using back-illuminated test charts and projectors for vision assessment. With the advent of more powerful computers with better graphical capabilities and in particular with the emergence of new display technology, Professor Thomson and his team started developing software to take advantage of the new technology. After extensive research and evaluation, Test Chart 2000 was launched in 2000 and was the first Windows computer-based test chart. The system received enthusiastic reviews from users and won a number of awards. Within a few years the system was installed in hundreds of consulting rooms around the world. Test Chart 2000PRO, launched in 2002, built on the success of Test Chart 2000 and added a variety of new tests. In response to a growing demand from Hospital Eye Departments, Occupational Health Departments, Diabetic Screening Units and GPs, a reduced version of the program, Test Chart 2000LITE, was launched in 2003. By 2008, Test Chart 2000PRO was being used in over 5000 consulting rooms including the clinics in all of the Optometry Schools in the UK and a number in Europe, the US and Australia and was fast becoming the standard for Hospital Eye Departments. Test Chart XPert 3Di is the latest evolution of the system adding a range of new tests and features ensuring that the software maintains its position at the cutting-edge of clinical vision assessment. In addition to Test Chart XPert 3Di we also produce a range of other programs for vision assessment and screening including iChart 2000 (for the iPod touch or iPhone), Insight (Patient information animations), Near Chart 2000, PC Hess Screen, EMedInfo, Coloured Overlay Screener, Colour Screener PRO, Vision Screener for Schools and the Vision Screener for VDU Users. Further details of all of these programs are available on our web site.
