INTRODUCTION Thank you for purchasing the Digital Camera Unit DC-1(USB 2.0 type) for TOPCON Slit Lamp. This instrument is combined with the slit lamp and used to take pictures and records of observed images. This instrument has the following features: • Simple operation and high-quality digital image • Optimized functions for slit lamp photography • Motion picturing for 60 sec max. • Compact body and clean-cut cable arrangement • Simple control panel operation • Emphasis on computer affinity This Instruction Manual covers an overview of the basic operations, troubleshooting, checking, maintenance and cleaning of the Digital Camera Unit DC-1. To get the best usage from the instrument, surely read "Safety Indications" and "Safety Cautions." Keep this Instruction Manual within reach for future referencing.

MAINTENANCE USER MAINTENANCE To maintain the safety and performance of the equipment, never attempt to do maintenance on your own. Ask our serviceman for repair except for the items specified here which can be maintained by the user. For details, follow the instructions.

ASSEMBLY PROCEDURE TOOLS • Besides the hexagon wrench packed, a 3mm plus screwdriver is required.
TAKEOFF FROM THE PACKING CASE

Open the case, paying attention to the top-bottom direction.

Take out the cushioning materials on both sides of the body, together with the body.
Take out the Instruction Manual and accessories from the inner lid. Take out the Instruction Manual and others, and remove the inner lid. When taking out the inner lid, remove the cable through the notch part.

Remove cushioning materials.
To avoid damage after takeoff, place the component parts on a cardboard and the like.
FITTING THE CABLE When connecting to the TV monitor, use the Video cable (DC-1 VIDEO CABLE). When connecting to the computer, use the recommended USB cable.
For the recommended USB cable see page 52.

Pass the Video(stereo plug side) and USB(type B side) cables through the holes of the base and chinrest of the slit lamp.

Using a plus screwdriver, remove the arm cover of the slit lamp.

Turn the control lever of the slit lamp and bring the arm to the top. Turn the arm aside so that holes of the base can be seen.

Pass cables of DC-1 through holes of the base and chinrest.
Do not forcibly pull the cables, as they may be scarified at metal corners.

When cables are passed leaving 30-40cm, remove kinks so that the cables are not twisted in the arm.

MOUNTING THE BODY ONTO THE MICROSCOPE UNIT When necessary, attach the optional adapter cover.

After passing cables through, screw down the body to the microscope mount.
To prevent cables from going slack to lift the body, hold the cables inside the arm.

Insert the arm cover into the arm from under, paying attention not to catch cables, and fasten screws.
Place the Video cable connector in the horizontal part of the arm.

Unkink cables under the table. Move the base to the left end and lock, and fix cables under the table, allowing an excess. Confirm that the base moves smoothly.

CONNECTION WITH EXTERNAL UNITS WIRING CABLES
CAUTION
To prevent short-circuiting, connect cables correctly.
CONNECTING THE VIDEO CABLE TO TV MONITOR Connect the Video cable (DC-1 VIDEO CABLE) to the TV monitor.
CONNECTING THE INTERFACE CABLE TO SLIT LAMP BASE UNIT Connect the Interface cable to the cable (SL-D CABLE1) from the slit lamp base unit.

CONNECTING THE USB CABLE TO IMAGENET INSTALLED PC When connecting the IMAGEnet installed PC, use the USB cable.

When connecting the photo power supply FD-21, connect the cable (SL-DCABLE2) from the OUT terminal of FD-21 to the Interface cable.

Connect the cable (SL-DCABLE2) from the IN terminal of FD-21 to the cable (SLDCABLE1) for the slit lamp base.
CONNECTING THE POWER CABLE TO TABLE POWER SUPPLY Make sure that the POWER switch of the slit lamp is OFF. Connect the Power cable to the table power supply.

PREPARATIONS INSTALLING THE SOFTWARE (WHEN CONNECTED WITH PC) When connecting to a PC, a special software is required. When connecting to the IMAGEnet, refer to the instruction manual of the IMAGEnet.

LOADING THE COMPACT FLASH CARD

NOTICE
Insert the compact flash card in the correct direction. Improper insertion may cause damage to the instrument.
NOTICE
Initialize the compact flash card by this machine, as sometimes image recording is not possible. For initializing, see the “Setup Menu List” on page 27.
Make sure that the Mode dial of the main body is OFF ( ), and insert the compact flash card in the correct direction. As illustrated below, hold the compact flash card, pointing the memory capacity display at the patient, and surely insert to the slot end.
Use the specified compact flash card. See “Optional Accessories” on page 52.

TAKING OUT THE COMPACT FLASH CARD

The compact flash card is hot immediately after using the main body. Be careful when taking out the compact flash card.

Power save
Cuts the power supply when a certain time is passed without operating the instrument. [ON-5min]: Cuts the power supply in 5 minutes [ON-10min]: Cuts the power supply in 10 minutes [ON-20min]: Cuts the power supply in 20 minutes [ON-30min]: Cuts the power supply in 30 minutes [OFF]: Does not automatically cut the power supply.

29 PREPARATIONS
RESETTING FROM POWER SAVE CONDITION This instrument adopts the power save system for power saving. By the power save system of the instrument, power supply to the camera is stopped when the instrument is not operated for a set time. Under the power save condition, the POWER lamp brinks on the control panel.

Press either key on the control panel or the PHOTO switch. Photographing can be done in a few seconds.

CONNECTING THE PC DC-1 can be connected with a PC to perform equipment operations and image controls. To operate DC-1 images by the PC, special software needs to be installed. OPERATING THE IMAGE FILE UNDER STORAGE MODE When connected with a PC, DC-1 functions as storage device under the PLAY mode.
