Do not shine light into eyes. Eye injury may result.
Do not use at distances closer than 10in (25cm) for extended periods. Erythema may result.
Do not remove the fiber optic bundle from the luminaire while light source is on. The light guide’s distal end may transfer extreme heat.
Proximal end of fiber optic bundle will be hot after use. Do not touch.
Always plug fiber optic bundle into light source before turning on light source. Do not remove the fiber optic bundle from the light source while light source is on. Use Headlight only with Welch Allyn HI*Lux Light Source and Welch Allyn Fiber Optic Bundle. Service must be performed only by Welch Allyn authorized repair personnel.

HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY 1. Carefully remove fiber optic bundle from plastic bag. 2. Carefully remove headlight assembly from plastic bag. 3. Insert fiber optic bundle distal end into luminaire. 4. Drape fiber optic bundle over top of headband. Align marks on fiber optic bundle with clips attached to top and back of headband. Press bundle into clips. 5. Turn light source intensity down to minimum. Insert fiber optic bundle proximal end into light source port. 6. Turn light source on. Adjust light intensity as desired.

HEADLIGHT OPERATION: 1. Adjust size of illumination spot by turning grooved dial on luminaire. Spot size ranges from.75in to 3in (20mm to 75mm) in diameter with a 16in (40cm) working distance.

2. Use knobs at top and rear of headlight assembly to adjust headbands for fit and comfort. Bottom of headband should be even with tops of ears.

CAUTION: Over-tightening adjustment knobs will damage the gear teeth. 3. For greatest comfort, use gown clip to secure fiber optic bundle to user’s surgical gown. (See figure.)
4. Headlight assembly can assume a wide variety of positions. Use joystick to adjust. For easiest adjustment, place in indirect position (See figure.) before putting on headlight. While wearing headlight, adjust luminaire downward as desired.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE LUMINAIRE, HEADBAND, AND FIBER OPTIC BUNDLE: CAUTION: Turn off light source before disconnecting fiber optic bundle from headlight or light source. Exterior surfaces of luminaire, headband, and fiber optic bundle can be wiped clean with any of these solutions: l

Keep ends of fiber optic bundle clean by wiping with a damp cloth. Allow to dry before use. Avoid scratching or striking ends of fiber optic bundle. Light transmission losses can result. To inspect fiber optic bundle for light transmission losses, remove from light source and headlight assembly. Hold one end of fiber optic bundle up to room lighting. Examine other end. Replace fiber optic bundle if 25% or more of end area is dark.
JOYSTICK: Joystick can be sterilized by steam autoclave. Unscrew from luminaire and process in a standard steam autoclave.

WARRANTY AND SERVICE HEADLIGHT The Welch Allyn Fiber Optic Headlight is guaranteed against all defects in materials and workmanship. Welch Allyn will repair or replace, free of charge, any component found to be defective for reasons other than misuse, neglect, damage in shipment, or normal wear. This headlight assembly warranty is in effect for three years from date of purchase.
FIBER OPTIC BUNDLE The Welch Allyn Fiber Optic Bundle is guaranteed against all defects in materials and workmanship. Welch Allyn will repair or replace, free of charge, any parts that prove defective for reasons other than misuse, neglect, damage in shipment, or normal wear. This fiber optic bundle warranty is in effect for 18 months from date of purchase.
ORDERING PARTS AND COMPONENTS The Welch Allyn Fiber Optic Headlight is designed for use with the Welch Allyn Fiber Optic Bundle and the Welch Allyn HI Lux Light Source. For best results, use only the appropriate Welch Allyn equipment.
