Appendix B: AutoPulse Maintenance Checklist Qualified personnel should perform monthly maintenance test checkouts to ensure that the AutoPulse is functioning properly. No tools or other equipment are needed to perform these maintenance tests. Use this checklist to record the results of your maintenance tests. Report any findings to ZOLL Technical Service.

AutoPulse Platform Maintenance Checklist
Procedure
Task/Results
Inspect the Platform.
Ensure there are no cracks in the plastic.
Inspect the Load Plate Cover.
There should be no holes or tears.
Inspect the bumpers along the outer edge of the AutoPulse Platform.
They should be securely fastened to the AutoPulse Platform with no tears or gaps.
Inspect the head restraint cables.
Pull on each of them to ensure that they are securely fastened to the AutoPulse Platform.
Inspect the patient restraint pins.

All restraint pins should be present.
•
Pull on each of the pins to ensure they are securely fastened to the AutoPulse Platform.
•
Contact ZOLL Technical Service if one or more pins are missing.
Turn the Platform over and inspect the back covers.
Both back covers should be securely fastened.
Inspect the two vents on the back of the AutoPulse.
•
The vents should be free of any foreign material.
•
If needed, clean the vents with a cotton swab and 70% Isopropyl Alcohol.
•
Use compressed air to blow out any dust particles.

Procedure Inspect the driveshaft.
Task/Results •
Orient the AutoPulse with the patient side down.
•
Remove the LifeBand cover plate by pinching the four locking tabs and lifting up.
•
Remove the LifeBand band clip from the driveshaft.
•
Once the LifeBand band clip is removed, attempt to rotate the driveshaft by hand- it should be locked in place.
•
Install the LifeBand band clip back in the driveshaft.
•
The LifeBand band clip should be properly seated and flush in the drive shaft.
•
The drive shaft should now be unlocked and able to be rotated by hand.
•
Lock the LifeBand cover plate back in place.
Remove the Battery from the AutoPulse Platform and inspect the inside of the Battery Bay.
•
Remove any foreign objects.
•
If needed, use compressed air to blow out dust particles.
•
Visually inspect the battery connector located at the end of the Battery Bay. • There should be no damage to the pins or to the housing surrounding them.
Remove a fully charged Battery from the Charger and install it in the AutoPulse Platform.
•
When installed, the Battery should be flushed with the AutoPulse Platform.
•
Close the battery latch on the AutoPulse.
Power on the AutoPulse to perform self test.
•
The self test is automatically performed every time the AutoPulse is powered on.
•
The LCD and all the LED’s illuminate for two seconds as part of the system check.
•
Ensure that no User Advisory, Fault Condition, or System Error exists.
Inspect the LCD.
Ensure the LCD backlight is on and not flickering.
Return the AutoPulse to service.
Place the AutoPulse back in the carry case or transporter and return it to its ready state.

Battery Maintenance Checklist
Procedure
Task/Results
Inspect all the outside surfaces of the Battery.
There should be no cracks or damage to the external Battery housing.
Inspect the Battery Connector.
The housing around the Battery Connector should not be bent or otherwise damaged.
Place a fully charged Battery from the Charger into AutoPulse.
Confirm that the Battery latches properly when inserted into the Battery Bay.
Close the battery latch on the AutoPulse Platform.
The Battery should be flush with the AutoPulse Platform and allow for the latch to swivel freely.
Power on the AutoPulse.
The Battery Icon on the User Display should have 4 bars.

Charger Maintenance Checklist
Procedure
Task/Results
Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet and from the Charger
Only the supplied power cord should be used with the Charger.
Inspect the outside of the Charger for any cracks or damage.
Report any cracks or damage to the outside housing of the Charger to ZOLL Technical Service.
Inspect the inside of the Battery Bay.
•
Remove any foreign objects inside.
•
If needed, use compressed air to blow out dust particles.
•
Visually inspect the battery connector located at the end of the Battery Bay. There should be no damage to the pins or to the housing surrounding them.
Plug the power cord back into the Charger back and into the wall outlet.
The Power cord should be seated flush in the Charger and into the wall outlet.
When initially powered on, the Charger will automatically perform a self test over two seconds.
During the self test the fan should be operating and all the LED’s on the Charger should be illuminated.
The green Power LED on the Control Panel should remain illuminated.
If the green Power LED does not illuminate see “4.4 Replacing the Battery Charger Fuse.”
