Alarm Reset
Switches the mains power to the pump on and off.
When the pump detects an alarm condition, it can be cancelled by switching the
pump off and then back on.
Wait
The Wait indicator is illuminated when the mattress is being inflated. The indicator
will remain illuminated until the mattress has been fully inflated. This may take up to
15 minutes.
Alarms
During an alarm condition the triangular alarm symbol will flash, an audible alarm
will sound and one of the following indicators will be illuminated: Low Pressure,
High Pressure, Pump Fault, Power (Fail).
LOW
PRESSURE
Low Pressure
The Low Pressure indicator is illuminated whenever the pump detects low
pressure within the mattress. An audible alarm will sound unless cancelled by the
Mute button. The indicator will extinguish once normal pressure is reached. Make
sure the CPR is closed, the tubeset is connected properly and the mattress is set to
Normal.
HIGH
PRESSURE
High Pressure
The High Pressure indicator is illuminated whenever the pump detects high
pressure within the mattress. An audible alarm will sound unless cancelled by the
Mute button. The indicator will extinguish once normal pressure is reached. Make
sure the tubeset is not kinked and the Auto-Matt® sensor pad is flat and not kinked.
Pump Fault
Internal pump malfunction. Call Service Engineer. (Rental equipment only).
Power
The Power (Fail) alarm indicator will illuminate when a mains power failure has
been detected. An audible alarm will sound. The alarm will continue until the mains
power is resumed or the pump is switched off using the Power switch on the pump.
If the power failure is prolonged, switch to Transport mode and disconnect the
tubing.
Examples of the Power (Fail) alarm are mains lead removal and power failure.
Maintenance/
Service
The telephone symbol will illuminate and remain on after a set number of running
hours indicating the pump is ready for a service. The pump will continue to function
normally while the telephone symbol is illuminated.
Alarm Mute
During an alarm condition the audible alarm can be muted by pressing the Mute
button. The indicator on the Mute button will illuminate to show the audible alarm
has been silenced. After approximately 15 minutes the alarm mute will be
cancelled, and the audible alarm will sound.
Static
Press the Static button to select static mode. An audible tone will sound when the
button is pressed. The indicator on the Static button will only illuminate when the
pump is in static mode. Press the button again to return to alternating mode.
Comfort Control
The mattress cell pressure can be manually adjusted for patient comfort using the
rotary Comfort Control dial.

Installation
Quick Start
Nimbus 3 Mattress Replacement (MR)
When the Nimbus 3 pump is switched on using the Power switch,
the pump will run a self diagnostic check for approximately 3
seconds during which all indicators will be illuminated.
The Wait and Low Pressure indicators will remain illuminated
while the mattress inflates. Allow approximately 15 minutes for the
mattress to inflate fully. Once the mattress is fully inflated, the Wait
and Low Pressure indicators will extinguish. Place a bed sheet
over the mattress and tuck in loosely.
Once the patient is on the mattress, the pump will automatically
sense and adjust the pressure in the cells to support the patient.
Place the MR directly onto the bed base, with the tubeset and CPR
located at the foot end of the bed. The cells of the mattress must be
uppermost.
Use the hook and fastener straps provided
to attach the MR to the bed frame.
If the bed is to be gatched (profiled), attach
the mattress to the movable part of the bed
only.
To complete mattress installation
Zip the protective cover over the mattress. Make sure that the
Huntleigh logo is uppermost and at the foot end of the mattress.
Check that the transport control is set to NORMAL and the CPR
control is closed and locked in position.
Transport Mode
To transport a patient using the Nimbus 3 mattress, turn the
transport control at the foot end of the mattress clockwise to
Transport (See Figure 1). Switch off the pump and disconnect the
tubeset. The patient will remain supported by the mattress for at
least 12 hours.
To resume normal operation, reconnect the pump, turn the
transport control counterclockwise to Normal (See Figure 2) and
switch on.

TRANSPORT
Make sure the CPR unit and mains power cord are clear of gatching
(profiling) bed mechanisms or other possible entrapment areas.
The CPR must be accessible at all times.
If the pump is to be hung from the end of the bed, attach the bed
bracket to the bed frame.
CPR Control
IN THE EVENT OF CARDIAC ARREST
In the event of a patient suffering cardiac arrest and CPR
needing to be administered:
Make sure the mattress tubeset is not "kinked" or twisted and
connect it to the pump until it clicks into place. Make sure the
tubeset is securely connected to the pump and the mattress.
To Activate the CPR
1. Lift the red handle on the control panel at foot end
of the mattress.

On older Nimbus 3 pumps insert the mains power connector into the
socket on the side of the pump (newer pumps are hard-wired).
Connect the mains power cable to a suitable mains power outlet.
SAFETY SIDES
Regarding the use of safety sides, always refer to your local
trust policy AND the product user manual.
4. The triangular seal will rotate and air will exhaust from
the mattress. The torso area of the mattress
will deflate in less than 10 seconds.
To Reset the CPR
1. Turn the grey triangular seal clockwise and push
onto the connectors.
2. Turn the red handle clockwise.
3. Fold the handle flat to lock in position.
