DPS Function – Volumat Agilia
DPS in Volumat: Pressure increase in 1 - 5 peristatic cycles Volume in tube segment in front of peristaltic fingers – 3.5 cm of tube (3.41 mm I.D:) = 0.2415 ml 1 peristaltic cycle – 50ml/h = 207 cycles / hour =
3.5 cycles / min = 1 cycle per 17 sec.
– 10ml/h = 41 cycles / hour
0.67 cycles / min = 1 cycle per 80 sec.
– 0,1 ml/h = 0.4 cycles / hour
= =
1 cycle per 150 min = 1 cycle per 9000 sec.

Time needed for 1 peristaltic cycle = minimum time to trigger DPS warning

DPS Function – Volumat Agilia
How to set the threshold value – In general as low as possible – 50mmHg will have a small chance of false warnings when patient is very active – Too high values may lead to a situation similar to DPS off. – Pressure increase must be achievable within 1 cycle (0.24ml)
Time for DPS warning is rate dependent
DPS – Volumat Agilia
Factors Influencing the Reaction Time A certain volume has to be delivered to trigger the DPS warning – Volume depends on Tube softness, lengths of set / location of occlusion, priming of the set (tiny air bubbles) – Time to deliver the volume depends on flow rate
Fast Time to Alarm Set DPS function ON Prime the line carefully and remove all tiny air bubbles Use stiff tubing material for extension lines – PE > high quality PVC > low quality PVC
Try to avoid flow rates below 3 ml/h

DPS Function
Injectomat Agilia
With a 50 ml syringe 800 motor steps are equal to 1ml volume – 1200 motor steps = 1,5 ml – 100 motor steps = 0,125ml
15 mm of movement – Motor steps per mm movement are always the same – Volume depends heavily on size (& brand) – 10ml syringe approx 3.0ml – 20ml syringe approx. 4,4 ml
– 50ml syringe approx 10 ml
DPS Function
Injectomat Agilia Use a syringe size adapted to the flow rate – Smaller syringes create a faster DPS reaction with low flow rates
Pressure stabilization for 2 mm of movement. During the stabilization phase, the DPS function is not active. – 10ml syringe approx 0.4ml / 50ml syringe approx 1.6 ml
The device will then measure an average pressure over a cycle of 1200 motor steps and also simultaneously pressure over a cycle of last 100 motor steps. – 1200 motor steps = 1.5 ml / 100 motor steps = 0.125ml [50ml syringe] 1200 steps
100
The device will then compares the 100 step average pressure value with the
1200 step average pressure. If the 100 step value overpasses the authorized increase threshold, the device will issue the DPS warning.

Use the proper syringe size – Smaller syringe more motor steps = higher short time accuracy – Motor steps are the measurement for the DPS trigger
