HOW TO CLEAN AND DISINFECT THE EVO IQ SYRINGE PUMP THE EVO IQ SYRINGE PUMP SHOULD BE CLEANED AND DISINFECTED FOR EACH PATIENT USE ACCORDING TO FACILITY PROTOCOL CAUTION: • Always unplug the Pump from AC power before cleaning. • Always wear gloves (or facilityrequired personal protective equipment) when cleaning Pump and Pump accessories. (Several disinfectants can cause irreversible eye damage if splashed in eyes.) STEP 1: STEP 2: Turn off the Pump and unplug the AC power cord from the power source. Apply the compatible cleaning agent to a lint-free cloth. Use appropriate dilution ratio per the manufacturer’s instructions. Wring out any excess cleaning solution ensuring the cloth is damp but not dripping. Wipe down all six sides of the Pump and the entire pole clamp including the screw mechanism. Do not allow moisture to permeate the terminal pins or the seal. Ensure the Pump is free from accessories to allow for proper cleaning. Disinfectants should remain on the Pump’s surface in an evenly distributed film (but not dripping) for the recommended minimum wet contact time. • Only use Baxter’s specified compatible cleaners. For a complete list of compatible cleaning materials refer to the Operator’s Manual or https://service.baxter.com. Wipe the Pump dry and allow to air-dry in the open before Pump use. • Do not allow fluid to seep inside the Pump or severe damage may occur. • Do not spray solutions directly on the Pump and Pump accessories. • Do not autoclave or use EtO (ethylene oxide) to sterilize Pumps or Pump accessories. • Do not immerse or soak any part of the Pump in solution or liquid cleaners. • Do not use abrasive cleaners. • Do not use rigid cleaning instruments. • Always dispose of all cleaning materials per local guidelines for proper waste disposal. STORING: STEP 3: STEP 4: • Connect the AC power cord to the Pump and supply power source to charge the Pump’s battery pack during storage so it will be ready for future use. Open the Pump door. Visually inspect the syringe channel. Remove any foreign material. An obstruction in the syringe channel could cause the syringe to not be loaded properly. Wipe down the surface of the door and the syringe channel area. Apply cleaning solution to a lint-free, foam-tipped swab (do not use a cotton swab). Blot the swab onto a dry lint-free towel to remove excess cleaning solution. Use swab to wipe down the connection rails and speaker vent on the side of the Pump. Wipe down the set retention hook, flange retainer, driver head, plunger grips, driver head shaft, driver head lever and allow it to air-dry completely. • Do not handle, transport or store Pumps in ways that might result in physical damage. • Avoid handling, transporting and storing Pumps in a manner in which the pole clamp of another Pump or other heavy/sharp objects could impact the keypad or screen. • For recommended storage temperature and humidity, refer to the Operator’s Manual. For additional information on cleaning and disinfecting the Pump, refer to the complete instructions in the Operator’s Manual. For safe and proper use of this device, refer to the complete instructions in the Operator’s Manual.
