Windows™-based computer (with DVD/CD-ROM Drive) with Alaris System Maintenance CareFusion point of care software product DVDs for two different versions CompactFlash™ (CF) memory cards in FAT/FAT16 format, 64 MB, CareFusion recommends SwissBit™ CF, SFCF0064HIBKI-c MG-352-MA (or equivalent) -CareFusion as P/N 10012641 NOTE: Other CF memory cards have not been validated for use in this process. • Extender Board Kit, 2 extender boards P/N 49000066. (Only needed if the 802.11 a/b/g/n wireless board has already been installed and the Alaris PC unit needs to be reflashed.)

Clearing AlarisTM PC Unit Historical Log Data
Explanation Many user organizations require the clearing of all historical log data before their Alaris PC unit can be redeployed. Clearing the historical logs can be performed by changing the Alaris PC unit software version (by upgrading or downgrading).
Software Version 9.1.40
Process Description The software cannot be downgraded because there is no previous software version. CareFusion recommends cycling the Alaris PC unit through a software version upgrade followed by a downgrade that returns the device to the original version. NOTE:
Customers without Software Management Services (SMS), can request an upgraded version of software in order to clear the historical log files. CareFusion does not authorize long-term use of the upgraded software version or provide a license for its use without purchase. Attempting to use unlicensed software on the Alaris PC unit may result in incompatibility with the Alaris System, GuardrailsTM Editor Suite MX, Alaris pump module, or other components of the Alaris System.

The Alaris PC unit requires cycling through a software version change. To revert to the original software version, CareFusion recommends that a downgrade is performed followed by an upgrade back to the original version.
CareFusion distributes its software on version-specific DVDs. Part numbers and information for ordering software product DVDs appear in this service bulletin. CareFusion recommends using a 64MB compact flash (CF) card (P/N 10012641) to transfer the new software from the product DVDs to the Alaris PC unit. You can also use the Alaris System Maintenance (ASM) software to clear the historical log data, refer to the ASM user manual for the upgrade and downgrade procedures in the Managing Device Firmware section.

CAUTION: Never flash a Large Screen Alaris PC unit to a software version lower than v9.12. Doing so will render the device inoperable and it will need to be returned to CareFusion for repair.
