Inspection of Goods Received Please inspect the equipment and accessories for damages immediately after receipt. You can only claim for damages when you inform the vendor or shipper immediately. Write a report and send it to your Berchtold representative or you may send it directly to Berchtold Corporation. If you send the equipment back, please use the original package. Provide the following information: name and address of the owner, serial number(s) (see nameplate), description of the damage. Please read this operating manual and the operating manuals of the connected instruments before operating the equipment.
Camera with Monitor The camera is connected to the monitor via the camera control box. If the monitor has a Y/C receptacle, it can display a super-VHS image. To achieve the higher image quality, connect the Y/C output of the camera with the Y/C input of the monitor. Connect the Video output to conventional monitors with a BNC cable.
Fig. 1: Camera with Monitor
Camera with Video Recorder and Monitor The camera is directly connected to the video recorder, and the recorder is connected to the monitor. Ensure proper video termination resistance of 75 ohms (see section 5). If both the monitor and the video recorder have Y/C receptacles, they can work with super-VHS images. To achieve the higher image quality, connect the Y/C output of the camera with the Y/C input of the video recorder and the Y/C output of the video recorder to the Y/C input of the monitor. Use BNC connections for conventional video recorders and monitors. Also use this type of connection when only one of the two has no Y/C connection.

Functions of Controls Reduce light field of the OP light (only D-light). Extend light field of the OP light. White Balance To obtain the proper colors under varying light sources, direct the camera at a white object. Press this button. It starts blinking. When the blinking stops (after about three seconds) the camera is set. If you press this button again it is no longer lit and the camera is set to a color temperature of 5700 °K. Iris The iris controls image brightness. You can adjust the settings manually or automatically. Manual: To control this feature the two buttons have to glow brightly. If they do not, press one of them. Press the upper button, if you want the image brighter, the lower one to make the image darker. If the lighting changes, the camera adjusts automatically to achieve the brightness you set (exposure compensation). Auto: For this feature to work both buttons must glow dimly. If they do not, press both simultaneously. The camera adjusts automatically to achieve the ideal average brightness value that had been set in the factory (exposure compensation). If you switch to Manual again the camera is set to the last value selected in the Manual mode. Focus Manual: To control this feature the two buttons must glow brightly. If they do not, press one of them. Auto: For this feature to work both buttons must glow dimly. If they do not, press both simultaneously. The camera now adjusts the focus automatically. Zoom-Changes the magnification of the image. Zoom In Zoom Out
Input Terminal Resistance You have to observe the correct adjustment of the 75 Ω input terminal resistance when you connect several video instruments. A video line system consists of the video signal source, the video line and the termination of this video line (video input of an instrument). The output resistance of the video source, the impedance of the video line as well as the terminal resistance (input of a video instrument) must be 75 Ω each. The ChromoVision HR 24 and the video line connected to it have the proper resistance of 75 Ω. You have to watch the third item, the terminal resistance. There are two groups of video instruments (the operation manual of an instrument or the manufacturer informs you about which group your video instrument belongs to). The first group contains all instruments that have a direct connection between their video input and output. You must switch the input resistance of these instruments to high-resistance (High-Z), if these instruments are between two other video instruments. If such an instrument is the last one in a series, you must switch the input resistance to 75 Ω. You must also switch the input resistance to high-resistance (High-Z), if such a video instrument is connected to the line system via a T-connection. However, we do not recommend this arrangement. The second group consists of instruments with a built-in video output amplifier. These instruments have a fixed input resistance of 75 Ω. There is no direct connection between video input and output. The output of such an instrument represents a video source, and it begins a new video line system.
Maintenance / Disinfection The ChromoVision HR 24 is generally maintenance-free. The outer surface of the camera head and the cable can be cleaned with cleaning agents containing alcohol, which are normally used in the OR. The control unit is protected against water drips (protection class IPX1).
Repairs The camera was manufactured in accordance with stringent standards and was subject to constant quality control during production. Only high quality material and select electronic equipment were used in production. System failure is therefore highly unlikely. If this should still happen, a technician on location should determine whether the monitor or the camera is the source of the malfunction. Further troubleshooting on location is not possible: Troubleshooting No image
Check connections between camera head, control unit and monitor
Use color monitor. Adjust color controls on monitor.
Unnatural colors Adjust white set. Adjust color controls on monitor (Hue NTSC). Interferences
Move camera and cables away from power cables or other electrical instruments.
Use proper optical equipment. Adjust. Remove condensation.
If you use a different monitor, you can determine, if the cause of the problem is the camera or the monitor. Contact Berchtold Corp. if you cannot solve the problem. Repairs may be carried out only by Berchtold Corp. or by an establishment expressly authorized by Berchtold Corp.; otherwise, warranty is void.
