Safety information Electrosurgical devices are subject to the most rigorous checks by specially trained personnel. Work on the HF device may be performed only by qualified, trained persons. BOWA requires that the HF device be serviced by qualified or authorized personnel. The service technician must be trained in the fundamental principles, rules for maintenance and risks of the HF device and must also be familiar with these to safely and reliably avoid putting patients, personnel and equipment at risk.

Warnings and safety instructions
2.2.1.
General information
Use the HF device only after completing the self-test properly (see operating manual).
Position the HF device securely; do not set it on electrical devices.
Do not place any objects (e.g. tools) on the HF device.
Avoid disruptive interactions by maintaining as large a distance as possible from other electrical devices.
Take appropriate precautions before working with the HF device, use isolating transformers, insulated tools and materials.
Use the accessories only in the sockets reserved for this purpose.
Set the activation signal to an audible volume.

Special instructions The HF device can be connected via ground cable with potential equalization.
2.2.3.
Replace components only with components of the same type and same quality.
Use antistatic containers to transport electrostatically sensitive components.
Working with the device switched on DANGER Since the unit's components are not insulated against contact with foreign objects, there is high risk of electric shock with potentially fatal consequences!
Work must only be carried out by qualified or authorized personnel.
Since the device components are not insulated from external interventions, there is an increased risk of electric shock with possibly fatal consequences.
Connect the HF device directly with a grounded socket.
Do not use any extension power cables, adapters or multi-socket power strips.
Use an isolating transformer, 1000 VA, when working on the open device.
Ensure that the HF device, all accessories and the working environment are dry.
Do not touch any unprotected cables or PCBs.
Do not use any grounding straps when you are working with an HF device under power.
Overheated or unsuitable components as well as flammable assistive devices pose risks of fire and explosion.
Ensure that the HF device is sufficiently cooled.
Do not use any inflammable materials, such as anaesthetics, gases or fluids, around the electrosurgical unit.
If accessories are overheated, remove them from the electrosurgical unit and keep them away from the unit and personnel.

2.2.4.
Working with the device switched off The components are not insulated against external interventions. Due to electrically charged components, there is a risk of electric shock even after the device has been switched off.
Switch off the HF device at least 5 minutes before beginning any service work and disconnect the plug.
Check for zero voltage by measuring the DC voltage between measuring points X8 and X10 on the power board
Use grounding and wrist straps as well as protective ESD pads, to prevent damage to electronic components.
The incorrect use of assistive devices can damage the HF device.

Do not clean the HF device with cleaning agents that can damage or scratch parts.
Please comply with the cleaning instructions in the operating manual.
In addition, please comply with the warnings and safety instructions given in the operating manual when performing maintenance work.

Design and functionality The HF device consists of multiple assemblies which are grouped as blocks or modules:

3 Design and functionality
3.1.
Mains module The mains module converts the mains voltage to the direct current voltage prespecified by the MCU board for the HF generator on the LNT board. The low voltages required to supply power to all boards is generated in the low voltage power supply. The mains module consists of the following elements:
