Indications for use: The Datex-Ohmeda S/5 Web Viewer displays information received from other networked devices. It is comprised of an S/5 Web Server and S/5 Web Viewer clients. The Datex-Ohmeda S/5 Web Server maintains and coordinates the network connections between the devices in the Datex-Ohmeda Network and S/5 Web Viewer clients. The S/5 Web Viewer client runs on a generic computer that is connected to the hospital local area network (LAN). The Datex-Ohmeda S/5 Web Viewer can be used for viewing or otherwise processing of information from several bedside monitors or other networked devices. The DatexOhmeda S/5 Web Viewer can be used for patients in hospital and it is meant for consultation and remote monitoring use. The Datex-Ohmeda S/5 Web Viewer is not a primary alarm source. The device is for use by qualified medical personnel only.

The display units, computer and keyboard of the Datex-Ohmeda S/5 Web Server are CE marked in accordance with the EU Directives for Electromagnetic Compatibility 89/336/EEC and Low Voltage Equipment 73/23/EEC.

Conventions used in this manual To help you find and interpret information easily, the manual uses consistent text formats for certain text types:

1 General Introduction With the Datex-Ohmeda S/5 Web Viewer you can view vital patient data and trends remotely on a standard computer. Patient data is measured by DatexOhmeda bedside monitors connected to the S/5 Network.

The S/5 Web Viewer can be viewed on a standard computer with the Internet Explorer or Netscape web browsers and the JavaWeb Start software. The S/5 Web Viewer connects to hospital's local area network (LAN) via the Internet, modem, wireless or direct connection.
WARNING
Some equipment malfunctions may not generate a monitor alarm. Always keep the patient under close surveillance.
User authentication Only authorized users can enter the S/5 Web Viewer. Every user is prompted for the username and password. Contact your system administrator to obtain the password.
Differences in the S/5 Web Viewer and bedside monitor views The S/5 Web Viewer shows the same waveforms and numeric fields as the bedside monitor with some exceptions: -
Waveform colors are configured through the “Administration Pages” and cannot be changed

Minitrends are not displayed

Spirometry loops are not displayed

Split screens are not displayed

BIS and entropy data is not displayed

NMT waveform is not displayed

Shortcuts to different views You can enter different menus (Patient, View, Setup, Help) by pressing simultaneously the Alt keyboard key and the key corresponding to the underlined letter in the menu title. After having entered the menu, you can open different views and perform tasks by pressing the keyboard keys corresponding to the underlined letters.

2 How to start and exit the S/5 Web Viewer

Enter the specified URL address (homepage) of the S/5 Web Server into the address line of the browser.

Click Enter S/5 Web Viewer. The log-in screen appears.
3.
Enter your Username and Password.
4.
Click OK.
The message ‘...Connecting to server’ appears on the screen. Other messages indicate the progressing of the connection, see “Messages” page 37. When the connection is ready, an empty S/5 Web Viewer view is opened. The size of the window is the same as the one viewed in the previous session.

Using tabs, menus and command buttons In the S/5 Web Viewer you can select different views by using either the menu area or tabs.

In the Patient menu you can choose the Central and monitor for viewing. Use this menu to exit the application (Exit). You can also use the monitor list to choose the Central and monitor.

In the View menu you can choose what type of patient data (waveforms, graphical trends, numerical trends, or patient demographics) you want to see on the screen, see page 13. Alternatively, you can choose the views using the tabs. If the monitor list is not visible, you can select it visible through View – Show Monitor List. You can also choose to print a waveform or numerical trend page (Print Page...) and stop the waveforms in the Waveform View for closer viewing (Freeze).

In the Setup menu you can change the contents of different views if necessary, see page 23.

In the Help menu you can find this S/5 Web Viewer manual as a screen optimized pdf file, as well as the Web Viewer version details.

Using the S/5 Web Viewer for the first time When entering the S/5 Web Server homepage, you may get the following message: ‘NOTE! You must install Java™ Web Start to be able to use S/5 WebViewer’ If this happens, make sure that you have the Java Web Start installed, or install it now: 1.
Click the Java Web Start link on the start-up page.
2.
Follow the instructions on the screen.
When the Java Web Start is installed: 1.
Click the link Enter S/5 Web Viewer.
2.
The S/5 Web Viewer starts, continue as explained on page 7.
When the S/5 Web Viewer is used for the first time, a security warning is displayed prompting you to check that this application is signed by DatexOhmeda. Check and click Start to continue.
Creating a shortcut For your convenience you may create a shortcut on your desktop for starting the S/5 Web Viewer. The program prompts this when it is started. You can also create the shortcut in Java Web Start Application Manager.
Exiting the program To exit the application: 1.
Click Patient – Exit.
2.
Click Yes when the question ‘Do you really want to exit?’ appears.
or •
Click the closing button of the application in the title bar of the S/5 Web Viewer window.

3 Selecting patients Using the Monitor List

If there is no monitor list visible, select View – Show Monitor List. You can also use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+ M (MacOS: Command+M).

Click one of the Central name boxes on the left. This opens a list of all the monitors connected to that Central.
3.
Click the desired monitor in the list. The available monitor names are displayed in white and other monitor names (monitors not connected or in stand-by) in black. If there are more monitors than can be displayed at once, a scroll bar appears. A red or yellow alarm symbol after the Central, monitor or patient name indicates that there is an active alarm.
The previously used view appears on the screen.

4 Viewing patient data You can choose to view different types of patient data: waveforms, graphical trends, numerical trends, or demographics.
Using pages When viewing waveforms, graphical trends or numerical trends, you can choose different combinations of parameters to the screen. These predefined sets of parameters are called pages. The waveform view, graphical trends view and numerical trends view have several available pages each. Only configured pages appear in the Page list box, empty pages are not shown. Page contents can be configured through the Setup menu, see page 23. Only the first waveform page, Bedside, cannot be changed because it is always a copy of what is shown on the bedside monitor screen.

To select which waveform page you want to see on the screen, click the page in the list box: •
Bedside: this page displays a copy of the waveforms and digit fields of the bedside monitor screen and it cannot be modified

Page 2 – Page 5: user configurable pages that appear in the list only after they have been configured
You can also use the keyboard shortcuts: press Page Up to select the previous page, Page Down to select the next page.

Up to six waveforms and four horizontal numerical fields can be displayed simultaneously. If there are less than six waveforms specified, the waveform fields are adjusted to fill the whole screen.
Freezing waveforms To stop the waveforms for closer viewing, click the command button Freeze or click View – Freeze. To unfreeze, click the button Unfreeze or click View – Unfreeze. You can also use the keyboard shortcut Pause. The waveforms are also automatically unfrozen after 60 seconds or when the patient or view is changed.
Printing waveforms You can print the currently viewed Waveform View by using either the Print Page... command button or the menu selection View – Print Page... You can also use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + P (MacOS: Command + P). For more information about printing, see page 21.
Configuring your own waveform views To configure waveform pages, see page 24.

Click the Graphical Trends tab or click View – Graphical Trends.
When the message ‘Receiving trend data. Please wait.’ appears below the trend boxes, the S/5 Web Viewer is updating the trend display with more data. 2.
To select which graphical trend data pages you want to see, click Page 1 – Page 8 in the list box. You can also use the keyboard shortcuts: press Page Up to select the previous page, Page Down to select the next page.

Click the desired trend length in the list box (1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 24 hours for anesthesia monitors and in addition to these, also 36, 48 and 72 hours for critical care monitors). You can also use the keyboard shortcuts: press to select a shorter time scale, press to select a longer scale.

To scroll a trend page, use the horizontal scroll bar arrows or drag the scroll box.
5.
To have a cursor in the trends, click any point in a trend. You can see numeric values beside the cursor and the time of the measurement above the horizontal scroll bar. NOTE: The cursor remains in that point of time even when you change the page or select numerical trends for viewing.
6.
To move the cursor, drag it or click another point in the trends. You can also use the keyboard shortcuts: press to move the cursor to the right, press to move it to the left. When using the arrow keys, you can see the trends minute by minute even if the time scale is such that the resolution is less than one minute.

Click Numerical Trends or click View – Numerical Trends.

To select which numerical trend pages you want to see on the screen, click Page 1 – Page 8 in the list box.

Click the desired trend resolution in the list box.

To scroll the trends, use the vertical scroll bar arrows or drag the scroll box.

You can highlight a numerical trend line by clicking it. You can also use the keyboard shortcuts: press to move the cursor upwards in the trends, press to move it downwards. The trend cursor remains in the same place even when the trend view is changed between different pages or between graphical and numerical trends. 18

Printing numerical trends You can print the currently viewed Numerical Trends page by using either the Print Page... command button or the menu selection View – Print Page... You can also use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + P (MacOS: Command + P). For more information about printing, see page 21.
