1. WHEN IS SERVICE NECESSARY ? •
According to the ‘SW/HW Information’ menu on the AccuScreen device the ‘annual test’ service is necessary.
•
after each repair or opening of the device Æ final test
•
if problems appear during proper use, as well as if the measurement procedure or the results are faulty
2. WHO CAN CARRY OUT WHAT SERVICE ? User: - short functional tests (Self tests) - cleaning of device and accessories - troubleshooting according to the „troubleshooting guide“ For additional repair actions, services and maintenance refer to your distributor
Service-centres that have been authorized by the manufacturer: - extensive functional tests - repair of device and accessories - software upgrades - service including calibration and final testing Manufacturer - extensive repair including exchange of essential parts and components - probe calibration - software upgrades - service including calibration and final testing Please notice: Repairs and service including calibration of the AccuScreen may be carried out only by the manufacturer or by services that have been authorised by the manufacturer. In case of repair actions by anyone else, the manufacturer reserves the right to refuse any liability for the operational safety, the reliability or the efficiency of the device

5 TESTING PROCEDURES 5.1 Device check procedure after SW configuration The test procedure after software configuration is needed after every software upgrade. You find the whole specification for the software check in appendix A.
5.2 Annual test The annual test is necessary for service issue. The final test includes the device check after software configuration. In appendix B you see the specification for the test.
5.3 Calibration and Final test The final test is necessary after repairing by opening the device. The final test includes the annual test and the check after software upgrade. The final test consists:
final test instruction final test flowchart final test protocol
You find the whole documents in the appendix C.
5.4 Probe calibration (PRE) / Check Probe calibration This procedure is for probe calibration resp. check probe calibration. This procedure can be done with an AccuScreen device or OAE-ABR Simulator You find the whole guideline in appendix D.
5.5 ABR trunk cable test This procedure is for testing the ABR trunk cable. You find the whole guideline in appendix E.
6
NOTE: The clock battery of the device must be replaced every three years to make sure that the date and time functions work properly. In order to change the battery you need a soldering gun and you have to open the device therefore a ‘final test’ is necessary after replacing the battery. The work instruction for changing the battery is in appendix I.
6. FINAL ASSEMBLY Check the manufacturing and serial number sticker. Check the corresponding case equipment. Final visual check of device, probes and accessories.

7.2 Systematic troubleshooting For troubleshooting use the given flowcharts: On the left you see the steps you should follow. Beside is described how to do the steps. And on the right side you see the procedure to handle the problems.
How to work with the flowcharts: •
Follow the steps if you find no failure go to the next step.
•
If you find a failure try to repair it with the given hints on the right side. o If the trouble shooting hints force you to open the device to replace e. g. the processor board follow first all steps of the flowchart to ensure that you replace the right unit. o If you can’t repair the device with the given hints go to the next step (if possible) maybe the failure can be solved in a following step!

9. MAINTENANCE 9.1 Probe 9.1.1 Cleaning and maintenance of the probe tip It is necessary to clean the probe frequently, especially since even small amounts of cerumen can occlude one of the three channels of the probe.
Note B
A
B C A
Remove the probe tip (B) by pressing the button (A) while shoving the probe tip carefully upwards out of the probe case.
D By means of the cleaning wire (C) you remove the acoustic filter disc (D) from the probe tip. C
Use the cleaning wire (C) to clean the sound channels of the probe from the rear.
The probe tip can be cleaned with a disinfectant or alcohol (70%). Ensure the sound channels are completely dry before replacing the tip onto the body of the probe. Even the tiniest amount of moisture may dissolve any residual cerumen and thus contaminate the sensitive micro filter (black) in the body of the probe.
16
NOTE
The probe body contains sensitive components. Never attempt to clean the sound apertures in the probe housing mechanically or with liquids. Doing so may cause damage to the probe. Please contact your authorized service department for a periodical cleaning of the probe body.
9.1.2 Changing the acoustic filter disc
Note
If the calibration procedure fails and the message “Probe Error!” is displayed, the micro filter of the probe may be damaged or obstructed. In such a case, the filter disc needs to be changed. Therefore remove the probe tip (please see chapter 8.1.1) and by means of the cleaning wire (C) you take out the acoustic filter disc from the probe tip and insert a new disc. Test proper probe functions ‘Self test’ -> ‘Probe test’
9.1.3 Cleaning the attachable colored ear tips
Note
An ultrasonic bath is recommended for cleaning the silicone ear tips. Sterilization in alcohol or a disinfectant is also possible, as is the use of steam sterilizers up to a temperature of 150° C. Avoid exposing the ear tips to intense sun light or UV light. Disposable articles (like ear tips or cleaning pins) should be disposed according to local regulations.
The datasheet of the probe is in appendix F.
17
9.2 Cleaning the Accu Screen
•
Before cleaning, the Accu-Screen must be turned off and separated from any current from an external source (e.g. PC). Prior to the actual cleaning, separate the probe and the data transfer plug from the device.
•
Use only warm water and a mild detergent (do not use alcohol or disinfectants.)
•
Clean the surface with a damp cloth.
•
Always ensure that no moisture gets inside the probe or into the device).
•
Never immerse the Accu-Screen into water or other cleaning solution.
Note
18
10. LABELS AND OPENING THE DEVICE
To open the device unscrew the 6 screws (*), after repair screw up the device and put on one screw sealing wax (cp. picture).
