INSTALLATION AND CONNECTIONS Ensure the factory set mains voltage shown on the rear panel of each cabinet matches the local supply. Check the items received against the list above. Ensure no cabinet has a mains lead plugged in and then open the rear doors as described below. Each toy is installed via the door at the rear of the cabinet. In the interests of electrical safety a key is required. Looking at the cabinet from the rear, insert the key into the lock and turn. The door can then be opened by pulling at the key. Place the soft toy on the Velcro upright coming out of the rocker mechanism. Re-secure the door. Place the VRA cabinets at the left and right side of the patient test position, near mains sockets. Plug a mains cable into each VRA cabinet, then connect to an adjacent mains socket. The junction box should be fixed to the wall at a convenient point in the room. This can be done by either opening up the box and screwing it to the wall or by using the large self adhesive pads supplied. A control lead (with 4-pin DIN plugs) should be plugged into the "CONTROL" socket on the rear of each VRA cabinet, the other end of each lead going to the appropriate socket of the junction box for the cabinet you choose to be left or right. If trunking is already in the room for electrical installations, these leads may be inserted into the trunking. Alternatively, a supply of self adhesive hooks is provided and these can be placed around the room at intervals. The cabling can then be held in place. The handset lead (with 7-pin DIN plugs) should then be connected between the handset and the 7-pin socket on the junction box. To operate, ensure that all the mains sockets and power switches on the rear of the cabinets are in the ON (" | ") position and the green lamp is illuminated on the front of each cabinet.
THE HANDSET The handset has two sets of three press buttons, one set for control of each VRA cabinet. The upper button of each set will illuminate the appropriate toy. The middle button will give flashing illumination. The lower button will illuminate and animate the toy.
Note:- The handset does NOT require a battery. TO REMOVE & REPLACE THE TOY Disconnect the mains supply. Open the rear door of the cabinet as described in the installation instructions. Pull the toy and lift out. Replace in reverse. Re-secure the door.
TO REMOVE THE TOP PANEL Disconnect the mains supply. Open the rear door of the cabinet as described in the installation instructions. Remove the 5mm screws from the four fixing blocks in the lid. Lift the top panel evenly off the four pairs of plastic dowels. Replace in reverse.
TO REMOVE THE SCREEN Remove the top panel and slide the screen up the slot. Replace in reverse.
CLEANING Wipe the casing and screen with a damp cloth. Alternatively moist anti-static wipes may be used on the front screen as these will help to prevent build up of dust. DO NOT USE CHEMICAL OR ABRASIVE CLEANERS.
WARNING THIS EQUIPMENT MUST NOT BE CONSIDERED TO BE A CHILD’S TOY DO NOT USE THIS EQUIPMENT OUT OF DOORS OR IN ANY SITUATION OF UNUSUALLY HIGH HUMIDITY AVOID KNOCKING OVER THE CABINET AS THIS MAY DISLODGE THE TOY FROM ITS FIXING OR CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE FRONT SCREEN DO NOT PUNCTURE THE CABINET WITH DRILLS, SCREWS OR NAILS, AS THESE MAY CONTACT MAINS WIRING INSIDE THE CABINET
TROUBLE SHOOTING - refer to a qualified engineer
IF THE CABINET DOES NOT WORK:Ensure the fuses in the mains inlet connector (2 x 500 mA HBC for 230V operation : 2 x 1A for 115V) and in the mains plug, (5 amp HBC) if applicable, are intact. Also ensure the mains lead is securely connected and the power is switched on (green lamp shows at the front of the cabinet). Ensure that the 4-pin control lead is intact and fully plugged into both the toy CONTROL socket on each VRA cabinet and the junction box. Ensure the 7-pin handset lead is intact and fully plugged into both the junction box and the handset. IF THE LAMP DOES NOT WORK Open the rear door as described in the installation instructions. Turn the larger end cap of the lamp fitting 1/4 turn anti-clockwise as indicated by the arrow. Lift out the tube and replace it if faulty. On some models a push button on/off switch is set into this twist section, ensure that it remains switched on before closing and securing the rear door. The tube used is a 60W incandescent filament striplight (voltage to suit the local supply), opal or clear; length 221 mm. Refit in reverse order.
Note: 1. The end cap mentioned above cannot be turned back to the closed position until the tube has been replaced. 2. On later model lamp fittings, access to the tube is made by removing the smaller end cap. This must be pulled off in the direction towards the rear of the cabinet. When replacing the tube, ensure that the mechanical safety lock, adjacent to the end of the tube, is rotated fully anti-clockwise before finally pushing the tube into place. Failure to do this will prevent refitment of the end cap. IF THE TOY DOES NOT WORK Check the connections to the power supply. Ensure all external wiring is correct and intact. If the toy still does not work, refer to the supplier. IF THE ROCKER MOTOR RUNS BUT THE TOY DOES NOT MOVE Refer to supplier -------OBTAINABLE SPARES Toy : Lamp tube : Screen : Handset : Junction Box : Cables : Power Supply Unit.
