Getting Started Before you start using the VIAspire Liquefier, be sure to read the preceding section about dangers, warnings, and handling. Then follow these steps to get started.
Connecting the VIAspire Liquefier to a Concentrator The VIAspire Liquefier can be used with any 5 liter per minute concentrator that is equipped with an oxygen sensing device to assure acceptable purity levels. In addition, the VIAspire Liquefier has an oxygen purity sensor at its input to further assure that high purity oxygen is connected.
Choosing a Location Before using the VIAspire Liquefier for the first time, locate the unit in an appropriate place: 1
Using oxygen tubing, connect one end of the tube to the oxygen output of the concentrator.
2
Turn on the concentrator.
3
Set the flow indicator to read 5 LPM output.
4
Connect the other end of the tubing to the oxygen inlet of the VIAspire Liquefier.
CAUTION
Do not use a humidifier on the concentrator that is supplying gas to the home oxygen liquefier. Moisture applied to the input gas stream will damage the product.
• Avoid placing the oxygen station next to heaters, radiators, or hot air registers. It should be kept at least 5 feet (1.6m) away from hot, sparking objects or naked sources of flame. • Do not use in a closet or other enclosed space. • Always ensure that the VIAspire Liquefier is operating on a firm, flat surface. WARNING
The VIAspire Liquefier should be at least 6 inches away from walls, draperies, or furniture to ensure sufficient airflow.
CAUTION
Allow the VIAspire Liquefier to warm to room temperature if it has been sitting in a cold environment for an extended period of time.
CAUTION
Assure voltage receptacle(s) are capable of supplying adequate current. Do not overload circuits.

How long does it take to liquefy oxygen?
Filling a VIAspire Portable After the VIAspire Liquefier has liquefied enough oxygen, you can fill your portable by following these instructions.
The VIAspire Liquefier converts gaseous oxygen to liquid oxygen by cooling it to approximately -300° F (-180°C). The first time the VIAspire Liquefier runs, or if it has sat empty for a long period of time, it must cool for 2 to 3 hours before it starts to produce liquid oxygen. It takes approximately 19.5 hours to completely fi ll the reservoir (3 green indicator lights) after starting from a warm state, but afterward, starting the VIAspire Liquefier when it is already cooled produces liquid oxygen in much less time.
WARNING
Before filling a portable, read and follow the VIAspire Oxygen Portable product manual.
WARNING
If the Liquid Oxygen Coupler Access Door on top of the VIAspire Liquefier is opened and the unit continues to run, do not fill the portable. Contact your medical equipment provider to service the equipment.
CAUTION
The VIAspire Portable is designed to accept 93% pure liquid oxygen from the VIAspire Liquefier. Most oxygen portables are not compatible. Attempting to use an incompatible portable device may damage the VIAspire Portable or Liquefier, or could lead to injury.
Instructions 1
Open the Liquid Oxygen Coupler Access Door on the top of the VIAspire Liquefier. This will stop the liquefication process.
Use a clean, dry, oil-free, lint-free cloth to clean and dry the couplers on both units.

Align the coupler on the bottom of the VIAspire Portable with the coupler in the dock area on top of the Liquefier.
NOTE
The hissing sound you hear is the sound of some oxygen escaping; this is normal.
NOTE
You may see vapor around the connection. This is normal and due to the great difference in temperatures between the liquid oxygen and the warm air surrounding the VIAspire Portable.
6
When the portable is full, close the valve. You will know that it is full when the hissing sound changes tone, and some liquid comes out of the vent line.
Press firmly on the top of the VIAspire Portable, keeping it in an upright position. The VIAspire Liquefier and Portable are now connected.

Lift the portable off of the VIAspire Liquefier.
Problem
If the portable does not separate easily, do not use force. The VIAspire Liquefier and Portable may be frozen together, which sometimes occurs. A slight twisting motion will release them.
No indicator lights
Solution • Check to be sure that the electric cord from the
VIAspire Liquefier is plugged into the wall outlet. • Be sure that the “On/Off” switch at the power
inlet connector is turned to the “On” (|) position. • Test to make sure the wall outlet has power by
• Wait until the units warm up for 3 to 5 minutes, and then they will separate with slight effort. • Do not touch any frosted parts. • If any liquid is leaking from the liquefier reservoir or the VIAspire Portable after separation, reattach the portable immediately, then separate the units again.
