Instructions: KaWe EUROLIGHT®/KaWe COMBILIGHT®: Satisfactory operation is ensured when either standard 2.5V KaWe handles with 2 batteries (“C“ -Baby 1.5V or 2.5 V (we recommend alkaline batteries) or KaWe 2.5 V or 3.5 V accumulators) are used. Check for correct polarity and for correct bulbs (2.5V and 3.5V)! Slip-on and lock into place or clamp on the instrument head. outer ear
Turn on the sliding switch by pushing and moving it to the left. The rheostat enables the light intensity (maximum switch position) to be adjusted easily. Turn off the sliding switch by moving it to the right back to its starting position. Change the battery/accumulator by unscrewing the bottom locking cap. Handles with accumulators (NiMH and NiCd) can be charges with

What is the purpose of the general medical otorhinolaryngological examination of the ear? This examination enables the doctor to recognise different diseases and malfunctions in the areas of the outer ear, the middle ear and the inner ear and to monitor their treatment. 9
Lamp exchange: Satisfactory operation of the unit can only be guaranteed with the use of original KaWe vacuum incandescent bulbs, which ensure optimal light quality!
turer is not liable for any resulting damages. There are no known risks. The user alone bears the risk. Use only the enclosed otoscope handle for electric power supply.
KaWe PICCOLIGHT® C Swing the magnifying glass upwards and grasping the adapter, pull out the lamp. Remove the lamp from the adapter, and, if necessary, clean the glass bulb of the new lamp with alcohol. The lamp (along with the adapter) must be pushed in fully until it touches the back of the opening. The glass bulb should be clean and free of grease.
Further information, maintenance, storage: When used and stored properly, these otoscopes will serve you many years. Guarantee: When used under normal circumstances and with attention to these instructions we guarantee this product for two years after the date of purchase. Should you need further information or should your instrument require repair, please contact your dealer.
KaWe EUROLIGHT® F.O., KaWe COMBILIGHT® F.O., KaWe PICCOLIGHT® F.O. Take off the F.O. otoscope head from the handle and remove the lamp by pulling it out. If necessary, clean the glass bulb of the new lamp with alcohol. The glass bulb should be clean and free of grease. The lamp must be pushed in fully until it touches the back of the opening.
Warning instructions: When cleaning reusable ear funnels, special attention is required. A temperature of 134°C is not to be exceeded. Limitation of reprocessing: Frequent reprocessing influences the instruments only minimally. The working life of the instruments usually depends on the wear and tear and damage by use. It is recommended, that the ear funnels be re-prepared as soon as possible after their use on a patient.
KaWe EUROLIGHT® C, KaWe COMBILIGHT® C Pull out the lamp in the direction indicated by the arrow from the KaWe EUROLIGHT® head and remove the black plastic sleeve from the lamp. with fluids and ensure that liquids do not penetrate the housing. As the otoscope is not intended for use during operational procedures, simple cleaning and or disinfection with an alcohol-based surface disinfecting agent is sufficient. Do not use abrasive cleaning agents! The unit cannot be sterilised. The magnifying glass is to only be cleaned with glass cleaner.
Storage: No special requirements. Disposal: The product is to be disposed of at a separate waste disposal location in accordance with local ordinances.
Automatic cleaning: No automatic cleaning possible/required. Disinfection: Only reusable ear funnels need to be disinfected with (for example) helipur. Follow the concentrations and reaction times given by the manufacturer. The instrument can be disinfected by wiping it off with a cloth dampened with alcohol.
User’s Manual/Maintenance Instructions for Rechargeable NiMH/Li-Ion Batteries
Maintenance: Defective parts must be sorted out and/or replaced. When no function exists, follow these steps: 1. Replace batteries or charging batteries and check their functionality; 2. Replace the lamp and check its functionality; 3. Send the unit in for repair.
Unsuited use/contraindication of the products: Any use other than that described here is not in accordance with the intended use of this product. The manufacturer is not liable for any resulting damages. The user alone bears the risk.
Check and performance test: Check all movable parts such as the frames of the magnifying glasses and plugin connections to ensure that they all move smoothly. Turn on the unit. For all units: Visually check all parts for damage and wear. Keep all electrical contact points clean.
Risks and notice of possible danger: 1. Avoid short-circuiting the charging batteries. 2. Never allow the rechargeable batteries to come into contact with liquids.
Purpose: The charging batteries are to be used as an energy source for the relevant KaWe products.
Further information, maintenance, storage: The charging batteries can be cleaned with a damp cloth and then be wiped off with a dry fabric. Please ensure that no short-circuit is produced.
Packaging: Individually packed in zippered or cloth bags. Sterilisation: Reusable funnels must be sterilised in the autoclave at a temperature of 134°C for a minimum of 3 minutes.
Further maintenance instructions that may prolong the lifetime of the charging battery: Please heed the following instructions: The non-observance of these instructions may result in the accu11
mulator losing its full capacity within a short period of time. With NiMH technology, a lazy battery effect can occur that is analogous to the classic memory effect. It is triggered by the energy that has not been completely spent prior to recharging the battery. This effect can be nearly eliminated by completely discharging the accumulator from time to time and then by recharging it two or three times in quick succession. Subsequently, the accumulator will regain its full capacity. In the case that the accumulator no longer provides sufficient energy for operating the unit, immediately turn off the unit and charge the accumulator (in order to prevent it from losing its charge completely which would result in the destruction of the accumulator).
heat. 4. Avoid dropping the accumulators and protect them against being hit or crushed as this may damage the housing. 5. Please only use the accumulators and accessory parts recommended by KaWe. 6. When using an accumulator for the first time, please make sure to charge it completely.
Please keep in mind that the charging batteries can spontaneously discharge. When the charging batteries are not used (charged) for a longer period of time, a self-discharge may occur. The capacity will be lost and the accumulators may become permanently defective. The manufacturer is not liable for any resulting damages. Therefore, when stored for more than one month, the accumulators should be partially charged to approx. 50%.
1. When charging is completed and the charging unit and the compact adapter are no longer in use, please disconnect them from the unit and the socket in order to avoid fires and other dangers. 2. Do not cover the charging unit with any kind of material (table clothes, carpets, bedclothes etc.) while operating the instrument. If you use the adapter for a longer period of time, it may become overheated, lose its original shape or catch fire. 3. Please only charge the accumulator in the appropriate accumulator charging unit. The charging unit and the compact adapter have been developed especially for use with your unit. Please do not use them with other products or accumulators. All other products may cause the risk of excessive heat and distortion and thus the risk of fire and electric shock. 4. Prior to disposing of the accumulator, ensure that the contacts are masked with adhesive strips or other insulating material in order to prevent their direct contact with other materials. Contact with other metallic material in trash cans may cause a fire and injury.
The use of accumulators that are not explicitly approved for these units may cause explosions or leakages and the risk of fire, injuries and damage to surroundings. In the case that an accumulator begins to leak and spilled substances come into contact with eyes, mouth, skin or clothing, immediately rinse the effected spot with water and consult a doctor.
Please always respect the given charging time in order to prevent overcharging and the resulting destruction of the accumulator (the KaWe charging station KaWe MedCharge® 3000 + 4000 has an integrated automatic shut-off). NiMH accumulators lose their capacity at low temperatures (as low as 0°C). 1. Keep the accumulators away from heating installations and open flames. 2. Accumulators are not to be immersed in water or salt water 3. Never try to disassemble or modify the accumulators or expose them to 12
