A clean lens delivers optimal performance
A dirty lens delivers sub-optimal performance
Always check the condition of the lens. Any debris on the lens will result in an incorrect temperature reading. To clean the lens apply a lint free cloth. If an alcohol swab is used to clean an extremely dirty lens, it must be left to dry (in a tip down position) for at least 45 minutes or an inaccurate, low temperature measurement will result.
