Before using the MaxDriver, read all instructions and cautionary markings. DESCRIPTION The MaxDriver is a battery-powered surgical screwdriver device that assists in the placement of human bone fixation screws. The MaxDriver operates in two forward speeds and one reverse speed, featuring a unique torque-limiting capability in the forward speeds. The MaxDriver’s custom collet interfaces with KLS Martin MaxDrive driver bits. Review the Battery Pack KLS-BP-001 instructions prior to use of this device. INDICATIONS The torque-limiting feature of the MaxDriver drives the KLS Martin screws into human bone and to stop the motor when the screw is fully inserted. The MaxDriver operates in combination with the following accessories: • Battery Pack KLS-BP-001 • KLS Martin bit design Part Number 50-817-15-07 CONTRAINDICATIONS Use of the MaxDriver to drive screws other than KLS Martin MaxDrive and Ultra Low-Profile screws into human cranial bone may result in the torque-limiting feature not functioning properly, and should therefore not be attempted without positive surgeon control. Use of a driver bit other than KLS Martin MaxDrive and Ultra Low Profile driver bits with the MaxDriver may result in damage to the MaxDriver and/or driver bit, and should therefore never be attempted. WARNING: Use of a power source other than the Battery Pack KLS-BP-001 with the MaxDriver may present a risk of fire, explosion, or other damage. WARNING: Complete the screw insertion process manually for all screws that did not properly seat. Do not use the MaxDriver to resume insertion of a screw that has not fully seated. WARNING: The MaxDriver is not suitable for use in the presence of a flammable anesthetic mixture with air or with oxygen or with nitrous oxide. WARNING: Failure to insert the driver bit properly may cause personal injury, damage to the device, and may void the warranty. Always ensure that the driver bit is properly inserted and seated within the collet by firmly pulling the driver bit prior to use. WARNING: No field-modification of the MaxDriver may safely be performed. There are no user serviceable components in this device. The MaxDriver must be returned to KLS Martin for repair or service.
