OSCIMED 2000 Instructions for Use Ver 2.3.pdf
Instructions of use for plaster saw
1 Technical description
Electrical power is supplied from a socket by a cable which passes through a
transformer reducing voltage to 24 VDC. The saw runs on this 24 VDC.
The electromechanical drive
The oscillating movement of the blade is made by a DC motor and a mechanical device.
This device converts the rotating movement of the motor shaft to an oscillating
movement of the blade shaft.
The motor is a special DC brushless model controlled by an electronic card fixed behind
The advantage of this technology is the long life time without maintenance.
The cutting blades
The blades are circular with a synthetic coupling center. This coupling ensures the low
noise level of the saw. A special patented lock nut makes it easy to install or change the
blade without use of any tool.
For plaster of Paris casts, blades are in stainless steel with a white core. For fiber glass
casts, blades are in hardened stainless steel with a blue core and for carbon casts,
blades are in hardened stainless steel, TiN (yellow) treated, with a blue core.

Start and stop
Plug into electric socket.
Press button to start the saw; press a second time to stop it.
Disconnect the power supply.
To change blade, turn the blade lock nut (1) a quarter-turn and pull it out. To remove the
blade, incline it a little and pull out.
Set the new blade (2) on notched spindle, return lock nut and turn back a quarter-turn on
its internal locking notch.
Setting the guide (depth gauge)
Pull the upper part of depth gauge (3) to disengage the teeth (ratchet).
Adjust the level by moving it vertically.
Release the depth gauge.
Field of use
In a general way, every use other than cutting bandages and casts is forbidden.
In the medical field, this saw is not authorized for use where the saw blade could be in
direct contact with the patient or for surgery.

Remark concerning the immunity to the electro-static discharges:
Trials according to the EN 61000-4-2 norm have shown a non-destructive and very short
lasting stop of the saw in case of a more than 4000 volts electric shock.
Maintenance - Cleaning
Disconnect the power supply before any maintenance or cleaning operation.
Check that no electric cable is damaged, that the oscillating shaft and the switch are not
blocked in their movements by an accumulation of sawing wastes.
The only maintenance this saw needs is that it has to be kept clean. Wipe clean with a
damp rag. Do neither immerse the saw in water nor every other liquid, nor clean it with a
