Nicolet™ EDX Software Load Instructions Scope
This procedure is to be followed when configuring desktop and laptop computer systems. This procedure is written with the commonality of most computer system’s setup. However, any settings in this procedure may be superseded by the specific loading procedure for that system if required. For export only. Not for sale or use in the U.S.A. Sections designated as “Option:” pertain to specific features that may or may not be relevant to the customer ordered configuration. These sections should be verified with the customer ordered configuration then the appropriate actions taken. Also, certain items are not required to be set up. These have been labeled with the words (required), (recommended), or (optional) next to the task. Required items are mandatory, recommended items are suggested for consistency, and optional items do not affect performance or consistency of the application software. Below is a brief overview of the sections of this document: Section I: Configure Computer Section II: Load Software for Viking EDX Systems Section III: Load Software for Synergy EDX Systems
Equipment Required
Computer, Mouse, Keyboard, and Monitor. Minimum computer requirements Processor: Hard Drive: RAM:
Core 2 Duo with minimum speed of 1.6 GHz (Laptop) or 2.0 GHz (Desktop). Minimum of 80 GB. Minimum of 2 GB.
Other requirements Display resolution: Operating system:
Minimum of 1024 x 768 pixels. 32-bit Microsoft WIndows 7 or Windows XP (SP3).

Section 1 Configure the Computer A. Windows Setup (required) 1.
On initial power up of the PC. A Set Up Windows screen should appear when the PC is first powered up. Verify that the Country or region, the Time and currency, and the Keyboard layout is set to the correct setting for where the system will be shipped then click Next.
2.
On the Set Up Windows screen, type in the user name Nicolet, enter the “Computer name:” as EDX_System Serial Number. For example, “EDX_RW101234M”. Then click Next.
3.
On the Set Up Windows screen, leave all password edit box fields blank and click [Next].
4.
When the Microsoft Software License Terms screen is displayed the first time the laptop is started, check both “I accept …” check boxes and click Next.
5.
When the help protect your computer screen appears, select Ask me later
6.
On the Time and date settings window, select the correct time zone for where the system will be shipped, set the current date and time and click Next.
7.
If a Join a wireless network screen appears, click Skip.
B. Audio Driver Set Up (required) 1.
Right click on the speaker icon displayed in the system tray area and select “Recording Devices” .
2.
Ensure that the “Rec. Playback ” item is displayed in the recording devices list on the “Recording” tab of the “Sound” window. Note this might also appear as “Stereo Mix” depending on the PC type and the drivers loaded.
3.
If “Rec. Playback” is not displayed the device will be either be disabled or not present in the system. To enable the device take the following steps. a. Right click in the area below the last item in the recording device list. b. Check the Show Disabled Devices option. Rec. Playback should now be displayed. c. Right-click on the Rec. Playback device (or “Stereo Mix” as available) and select Enable.

Nicolet EDX Systems C. Printer Driver Install (required) 1.
Plug Printer into the PC and allow plug and play to load the Windows 7 printer driver. If the printer is not automatically set up a printer driver will need to be acquired to install the printer. a. Installing device driver software window should appear followed by a Your device is ready to use window once the printer driver is loaded.
D. Windows Configuration (optional) 1.
Delete the “Roxio Creator Home” shortcut from the desktop by right clicking on the Roxio desktop icon and select Delete. When the Delete Shortcut window appears, click Yes.
2.
Unpin “Windows MediaPlayer” by right clicking on the Windows Media player icon on the taskbar and click on Unpin this program from taskbar.
3.
Unpin “Internet Explorer” by right clicking on the Internet Explorer icon on the taskbar and click on Unpin this program from taskbar.
E. Turn Off System Restore (recommended) 1.
Click on the Windows Start icon in the lower left corner of the screen and click Control Panel.
2.
Click View by: Category and select Small icons.
3.
Click System. a. Click “System protection”. b. Under the System Protection tab, highlight OS (C:) (System) and click Configure. c. Select “Turn off System protection” and click Apply.

Click Yes on the System Protection window.
5.
Click OK on the System Properties window.

Click “Control Panel Home”

F. Control Panel Settings 1.
Click User Accounts. a. Click Change your picture. (recommended). b. Select the Orange flower (as shown) and click Change Picture.
NOTE: You may need to scroll down on the window to see the Change Picture button. c. Click Manage another account. (recommended). d. Click the Guest account. e. Click Turn On to turn on the guest account. (recommended) f. Under “Additional things you can do,” click Go to the main User Accounts page. g. Click “Control Panel Home” 2.
Click Autoplay. (recommended). a. Check Use Autoplay for all media and devices. b. Click the Reset all defaults button. (Scroll down if needed to see the Reset all defaults button). c. Click Save.
3.
Click Display (recommended). a. If not already selected, select Smaller -100% (default) and click [Apply]. b. Click “Personalization” (recommended) c. Scroll down if necessary to locate the section “Basic and High Contrast Themes” (you may need to scroll down) and click Windows 7 BasicTheme and verify that the following configurations are shown in the bottom of the Window: Window Color = Windows 7 Basic Desktop Background = Harmony Sounds = Windows default Screen Saver = None d. Click “Change desktop icons.” i Under “Desktop Icons” check “Computer” then click OK. e. Click Control Panel Home. f. Click Power Options (recommended). g. If the computer being set up is a laptop: i. Click Choosing what closing the lid does. ii. Set the following options to as shown below. iii. Click Save Changes. h. Click on change when the computer sleeps. Set all options to “Never” as shown below. (recommended). i.
Click Save Changes.
j.
Click on Control Panel Home.
k. If Java exists as an option control panel, click Java (recommended). l.
Click the ‘Update’ tab and uncheck Check for Updates Automatically.
m. Click [Never Check] on the Java Update – Warning window:

Nicolet EDX Systems n. On the Java Control panel window, click Apply and then OK to apply this change. o. Click Action Center (recommended). p. Click Change Action Center settings. q. Click Windows update settings and : i. For important updates select Never check for updates and check allow all users to install updates and click OK. ii.
Uncheck all message check boxes on Change Action Center settings window.
iii. Click OK. r.
Click on Change User account Control settings. i.
Drag the control to Never notify. Click OK. Also click YES to allow the user account settings to change the computer.
s. Click Control Panel Home. 4.
Click Task Bar and Start Menu (optional). a. Click the Start Menu tab. b. Under “Privacy,” uncheck both Store and display … options, then click Apply. c. Click Customize. d. Scroll down and uncheck “Highlight newly installed programs” then click OK to close ‘Customize Start Menu’ window. e. Click OK to close ‘Task Bar and Start Menu’ window. f. Click Programs and Features. (recommended for Dell Laptops) g. Under “Uninstall or change a program” locate Dell ControlPoint System Manager and click to highlight and then right click and select Uninstall and click [Yes] to remove the application. h. When asked if you want to allow the following program to update software on this computer, click Yes. i.
Under “Uninstall or change a program” locate “Dell ControlPoint Security Manager” and click to highlight and then right click and select Uninstall and click Yes.
j.
When asked if you want to allow the following program to update software on this computer, click Yes. (This may take 5 minutes or more to uninstall).
k. Click Finish on the Dell ControlPoint Security manager window to close it. NOTE: This window may be hiding behind the control panel. l.

Close the Libraries window by clicking the X in the upper right hand corner of the window.
Restart the computer.

G. Internet Explorer Setup

1.
Click on the Windows Start icon in the lower left corner of the screen and begin to type internet explorer in the find box until internet explorer is highlighted and displayed in the programs portion of the window. Click on the highlighted Internet Explorer link.
2.
If the following window appears, click Yes.
3.
Click on Tools > Internet options.
4.
Select the Advanced tab, and scroll down to the security section. Check the Allow active content to run in files on My Computer checkbox. Click Apply and then OK.

Section 2
Software Load Instructions for Nicolet EDX Viking Systems IMPORTANT: For consistency purposes, the following procedure should be performed in the order presented in this document for options that are ordered with the system:
A. Adobe Reader
1.
Place the 482-645400 CD in the CD drive and navigate to the AdobeReader_v10.0.0 folder. Right-click on AdobeReader1000_en_US and select Run as Administrator.
2.
Click Install.
3.
When the install is complete, click Finish.
4.
From the Windows desktop double-click the Adobe Reader shortcut and click Accept.
5.
From the menu bar, click Edit, then select Preferences.
6.
From the ‘Preferences’ window under “Categories,” select Updater.
7.
Check Do not download or install updates automatically and click OK.
8.
Close the Adobe Reader application.
9.
From the Windows desktop, right-click the Adobe icon and click Delete.
10. Click Yes.
B. Option: Install, Activate, & Setup MS Office 2010
1.
Use the MS Office 2010 disk for the following:

Insert the MS Office 2010 CD from the Report MS Office package and run SETUP.EXE.
3.
Enter the product key number from MS Office 2010 package.
4.
Check the Attempt to automatically update check box and click Continue when it validates the product key.
5.
Check the I Accept the terms of the agreement check box and click Continue.
6.
Uncheck Include a free trial of Microsoft Office Professional 2010 and click Customize
7.
Click the Installation Options tab. a. Click Microsoft Powerpoint, a menu will drop down. Click Run all from My Computer. b. Continue by setting Microsoft Word, Office Shared Features, and Office Tools as Run all from My Computer. c. For all others, click and set as Not Available.
8.
Click the User Information tab. a. In the Full Name: field, enter EDX User.
9.
Click Install Now. (This may take several minutes…)
10. When finished, click Close and remove the CD. 11. Click Start > All Programs > Microsoft Office > Microsoft Word 2010. 12. Click Don’t make changes then click OK on the Welcome to Microsoft Office 2010 window. 13. Click File > Options. 14. From the ‘Word Options’ window click on Trust Center. 15. Click on Trust Center Settings….

Nicolet EDX Systems 16. Select Enable all macros… and click OK. 17. Click OK to close the ‘Word Options’ window. 18. Close Microsoft Word.
C. Option: Install NicVue
NicVue 2.9.1 Installation NOTE: If NicVue 3 is to be loaded, skip to NicVue 3 Installation section.below. 1.
Insert the 482-640000 NicVue installation CD into the DVD/CD drive of the PC.
NOTE: If auto run does not launch the Options screen, then from the disc, open Apps.hta.) a. Click Install NicVue 2.9.1 on the ‘Options’ screen. b. Click Next> on the Welcome to ….. NicVue’ screen. c. Click Yes to accept terms on the ‘License Agreement’ screen. NicVue v2.9.1 will now begin to load. d. Select Yes, I want to restart … now, click Finish on the ‘InstallShield Wizard Complete’ screen. e. Close any open windows and eject the NicVue installation CD from the DVD/CD drive f. Log back in as Nicolet after re-boot.
NicVue 3 Installation 1.
Insert the 482-644600 NicVue installation CD into the DVD/CD drive of the PC. (Note: If auto run does not launch the ‘Options’ screen, then from the disc, open ‘Apps.hta’.) a. Click Install NicVue 3 Client on the ‘Options’ screen. b. Click Install on the NicVue 3.0 Client screen. c. Click Next> on the Welcome to ….. Client’ screen. d. Select I accept the terms….agreement and Click Next> on the ‘License Agreement’ screen. e. Click Install on the ‘Ready to Install…’ screen. NicVue v3.x.x will now begin to load. f. Click Finish on the ‘InstallShield Wizard Completed’ screen. g. If the ‘Options’ screen appears, click Exit. h. Close any open windows and eject the NicVue installation CD from the DVD/CD drive i.
D. Install EDX Viking Software
1.
Log back in as Nicolet after re-boot.
Using the 482-645600 installation disk. a. Insert the Viking EDX CD into the CD drive. The setup program should start up automatically. b. Click on Run VikingInstaller.exe

At the ‘Viking Install’ window, select the appropriate language and then click OK.
3.
At the Welcome screen, click on Next.
4.
At the Software License Agreement screen, click Yes.
5.
Select “Viking EDX Acquisition System” then click on Next.
6.
Ensure the following three options are checked, checking any un-checked options, then click Next.

Click Start to begin installing the Viking EDX software.
9.
Select the Yes, I want to restart my computer now option and select Finish.
10. After rebooting the system, log in as Nicolet user.
E. Nicolet Folder Sharing
1.
Use the Windows Explorer to navigate to the Nicolet folder on the appropriate drive: a. Desktop PCs: D: drive. b. Laptop PCs: C: drive
F. CrypKey Activation
2.
Right-click on the Nicolet folder and select Properties.
3.
In the Nicolet Properties window, select the Sharing tab and click on Share.
4.
When the File Sharing window appears select Everyone using the drop down list and click Add. Everyone should now appear in the user share list.
5.
In the user share list click on Everyone and change the permission level to Read/Write.
6.
Click on Share.
7.
Click No, make the network that I am connected to a private network.
8.
Click Done, then Close. All file sharing windows should now be closed.
9.
Close the Windows Explorer window.
Network Activation of Software 1.
Open the License Manager. a. For all systems this begins with the opening of the software requiring activation. Double click the relevant software icon on the Windows desktop. b. If this is a first time license the License Manager should open prior to the software’s start. (skip to step 3) c. If the software has been previously licensed you will have to use the following methods to update the current license i For systems with NicVue installed (NicOne cEEG always has NicVue installed):
• If NicVue has already been licensed, then the NicVue window will appear. • From NicVue’s toolbar, select Tools > Licensing… to open the License Manager. ii

For systems with Viking related software only:

Nicolet EDX Systems • From the main navigation screen place the mouse pointer over the word “Help”, then from the menu select “Software Packages” 2.
If NicVue is installed skip to step 4. For Viking without NicVue the Viking License Manager Wizard will open. a. Select the License Manager and click Next >.

License Registration Wizard screen #1. a. Select Register Online, click Next >.
5.
License Registration Wizard screen #2. a. Select the Installed Application software to activate a license from the pull down menu and click Next >.
6.
License Registration Wizard screen #3. a. Enter the Activation Code into the ‘Activation Code:’ box and click Register. (This example uses activation code: NCM123456.)
7.
If more software needs to be activated, repeat steps 4 to 7 and activate the other software appropriately; otherwise proceed.
8.
License Registration Wizard screen #4. a. Verify the correct software/options are enabled and then click Done.
9.
The following events will depend on the software activation process. a. For Viking activation without NicVue, at the Viking License Manager Wizard screen click Finish. i If VQ drivers are not yet installed, a “hardware failed” message popup may occur. Click Cancel, OK to start VQ without the hardware. b. For NicVue installed systems, click OK on the NPA screen.
10. Software licensing activation is complete.
G. Option: NicVue DCM Setup (if NicVue is installed)
1.
From the desktop, double-click the NicVue icon.
2.
From the tool bar of the NicVue window, select Tools > System Setup.
3.
For the login password, type nicolet and click OK.
4.
Click on the Miscellaneous tab and then the DCM button. Verify or add the following configurations: a. For Desktop PCs System Name:

To add a configuration do the following: a. Click on the next available System Name field and choose the appropriate name from the coinciding pull down menu. Do this for the rest of the fields in that row. b. Add a configuration for any other archive device(s) that are installed in the system.
H. Viking Software Configuration
I. VikingProducer Audio Setup

When finished, select OK and then select OK for any DCM error messages that appear, then click OK.
7.
Close NicVue when finished.
1.
Connect EDX base to the PC via USB.
2.
Double-click the Viking EDX desktop icon to launch EDX Viking Software.
3.
If prompted, click OK to the Viking NicVue warning.
4.
Click OK to update the Windows Visual Performance settings.
5.
Click OK to the following Viking window.
6.
Close the Viking software and click Yes to close down Viking.
7.
Click the Start button then click the arrow next to the Shut down button. Click Restart.
8.
After rebooting the system, log in as Nicolet user. Ensure that the Windows appearance changed to a “Classic” look with gray task bars and window frames.

Double-click the Viking EDX desktop shortcut icon.
2.
If prompted, click OK to the Viking NicVue warning.
3.
In Viking EDX application click on the drop-down arrow of the Tool icon
4.
Click on VikingProducer Settings.
5.
In the “Viking Producer folder:” box type in “C:UsersNicoletPictures” (or browse to find this link).
6.
In the “Audio During Video” section, check the box to “Record Audio”.
7.
Click on the Recording Control button to open up a Sound window.
8.
Double-click on Line In to open up a Line In Properties window.
9.
Select the Listen tab and check Listen to this device and then click OK.
10. Click OK to close the ‘Sound’ window. 11. Click Close]to close the Viking Producer window.
J. Option: Report Setup

If Microsoft Word is ordered, do the following:

In Viking EDX application, click the drop-down arrow of the Report icon, click on Report Setup.
3.
Once open, click on Exit to return to Viking EDX application.

Insert the EDX User Manuals CD, part number 482-645400 into the CD drive. The setup program should start up automatically.
2.
Select, right-click, and drag a copy of the “269-640100 Rxx – Nicolet EDX User English…” PDF file onto the desktop, so that it lines up under the other icon shortcuts on the left side of the desktop. Select Copy Here to place the icon.
3.
On the desktop, right-click on the desktop shortcut to the user manuals folder and select Rename.
4.
Edit the text by typing in EDX User Manuals.

Nicolet EDX Systems L. Verify Viking System Software
1.
Connect a stereo audio cable between the PC speaker out and the EDX base Line In connector.
2.
Connect a Viking Control panel to the EDX base.
3.
From the Main Viking EDX screen, click Run Tests.
4.
Click on the EMG icon.
5.
Click the EMG button on the control panel.
6.
If the display is not running, press the Switch button on the control panel.
7.
With the amplifier on, tap one of the amplifier DIN connectors with your finger to induce some noise and then click the Store button.
8.
Click Playback to see the noisy waveform and to hear the noise.
NOTE: You may need to adjust the volume on the control panel to hear the playback noise. 9.
Click Delete to delete the playback.
10. Click Yes to delete the file. 11. Close the Viking software and click Yes to close the software.
M. Supplies Catalog
N. Empty Recycle Bin (optional) O. Clear the Event Viewers (optional)
1.
Place the 482-645400 R00 - EDX User Guide into the CD drive, Open Computer if it isn’t already, then open CD drive.
2.
Select, right-click, and drag a copy of the “169-434700…” PDF file onto the desktop, so that it lines up under the EDX User Guide shortcut. Select Copy Here to place the shortcut.
3.
On the desktop, right-click on the Supply Catalog desktop shortcut and select Rename.
4.
Edit the text by typing in Supplies Catalog, followed by the Enter key.
1.
From the Windows desktop right-click on the Recycle bin icon and click Empty Recycle Bin.
2.
Click Yes to delete the files.
1.
From the Windows desktop, right-click Computer and then click Manage.
2.
Expand the following sections as needed: System Tools, Event Viewer, Windows Logs.
3.
Clear all the logs listed under Windows Logs: a. Right-click the log and click Clear Log…. b. Click Clear to the ‘Event Viewer’ pop-up.
4.
P. Defragment the Hard Drive(s) (optional)
Close the ‘Computer Management’ window.
1.
From the Windows desktop, click Start > Control Panel.
2.
Click Performance Information and Tools
3.
Click Advanced tools.
4.
Click Open Disk Defragmenter.
5.
From the ‘Disk Defragmenter’ window under “Current Status”, highlight the C: drive.
6.
Click Defragment disk. Under “Progress” there will be an update of what is happening to the drive.
7.
Once the progress has finished (went blank).
8.
If a D: drive is present, repeat steps 5 to 7 on the D: drive.
9.
Click Close.
10. Close the ‘Advanced Tools’ window.

Q. Create a System Restore Point (recommended)
1.
From the Windows desktop, click Start > Control Panel.
2.
Click System.
3.
Click System Protection.
4.
In the ‘System Properties’ window under “Protection Settings,” highlight the C: drive then click Configure.
5.
Check Restore system settings and previous versions of files then click OK.
6.
Click Create on the ‘System Properties’ window.
7.
Type factory in the ‘System Protection’ pop-up then click Create.
8.
Click Close to the ‘System Protection’ pop-up.
9.
Click OK to the ‘System Properties’ window.
10. Click Control Panel Home.
R. Taskbar and Start Menu

Software Load Instructions for Nicolet EDX Synergy Systems NOTE: For consistency purposes, the following procedure should be performed in the order presented in this document for options that are ordered with the system:
A. Confirm Language Format
1.
From the Windows desktop, click Start > Control Panel.
2.
Click Region and Language, the “Region and Language” pop-up will appear.
3.
From the “Formats” tab, verify ‘Format:’ is appropriate for the system destination/language. The format should be one of the following:

a. English (United States) b. English (United Kingdom) c. German (Germany) d. Spanish (Spain) If required, modify the setting by selecting the correct option from the “Format” drop down list.

Click OK to close ‘Region and Language’

NicVue 2.9.1 Installation. If NicVue 3 is to be loaded, skip to NicVue 3 section below. 1.
Insert the 482-640000 NicVue installation CD into the DVD/CD drive of the PC.
NOTE: If auto run does not launch the Options screen, then from the disc, open Apps.hta.) 2.
Click Install NicVue 2.9.1 on the ‘Options’ screen.

Click Next> on the Welcome to ….. NicVue’ screen.
4.
Click Yes to accept terms on the ‘License Agreement’ screen. NicVue v2.9.1 will now begin to load.

Select Yes, I want to restart … now, click Finish on the ‘InstallShield Wizard Complete’ screen.
6.
Close any open windows and eject the NicVue installation CD from the DVD/CD drive
NicVue 3 Installation 1.
Insert the 482-644600 NicVue installation CD into the DVD/CD drive of the PC.

D. Adobe Reader

Click Install NicVue 3 Client] on the ‘Options’ screen.

Click Install on the NicVue 3.0 Client screen.

‘Click Next> on the ‘Welcome to ….. Client’ screen.

Select I accept the terms….agreement and Click Next> on the ‘License Agreement’ screen.
6.
Click Install on the ‘Ready to Install…’ screen. NicVue v3.x.x will now begin to load.
7.
Click Finish on the ‘InstallShield Wizard Completed’ screen.
8.
If the ‘Options’ screen appears then click [Exit].
9.
Close any open windows and eject the NicVue installation CD from the DVD/CD drive.

Place the 482-645400 CD in the CD drive and navigate to the AdobeReader_v10.0.0 folder. Right-click on AdobeReader1000_en_US and select Run as Administrator.

Click Install.
3.
When the install is complete, click Finish.
4.
From the Windows desktop double-click the Adobe Reader shortcut and click Accept.
5.
From the menu bar, click Edit, then select Preferences.
6.
From the ‘Preferences’ window under “Categories:” select Updater.
7.
Check “Do not download or install updates automatically” and click OK.
8.
Close the Adobe Reader application.
9.
From the Windows desktop, right-click the Adobe icon and click Delete.

10. Click [Yes].
E. Synergy Acquisition Software
1.
Insert the Synergy Client installation CD, part number 482-645500 into the CD drive. The setup program should start up automatically.
2.
Click Next.
3.
Check Accept license agreement and click Next.
4.
Check Acquisition System and click Next.
5.
Enter system serial number from the supplied licensing form and click Next.
6.
Click Next to accept default application program destination.
7.
Click Next to begin installation.
8.
Click Install to install the device driver.
9.
Click Install this driver anyway.
10. Click Next to Finish Install. 11. Click OK to reboot the PC. 12. The Synergy software load is complete.
F. Synergy Software Update/Patch
1.
Apply any available updates to the Synergy software. The updates will be released by means of an update disk which will accompany the Client Installation media.
2.
Click Close and remove the installation media.
G. Create and Apply Synergy Software License
1.
For creating and applying the Synergy License, refer to the FRM 0309 Rev 00 Synergy Software License Letter.
H. Option: GDT Setup
1.
Contact customer support for licensing and set up of systems ordered with the GDT option
I. EDX User Manual
1.
Insert the EDX User Manuals CD, part number 482-645400 into the CD drive. The setup program should start up automatically.
2.
Select, right-lick, and drag a copy of the “269-640100 Rxx – Nicolet EDX User - English…” PDF file onto the desktop, so that it lines up under the other icon shortcuts on the left side of the desktop. Select Copy Here to place the icon.
3.
On the desktop, right-click on the desktop shortcut to the user manuals folder and select Rename.
4.
Edit the text by typing in EDX User Manuals.
1.
If the Synergy Server option has been ordered, insert the Synergy Server CD, part number xxxx into the CD drive. The setup program should start up automatically.
2.
Close any running Synergy applications before proceeding with the Synergy Self Help installation.
3.
Locate and run the file Setup.exe.
4.
Click OK on the Synergy Server window if it appears.
5.
Click Next on the remainder of the Synergy Server windows until the Synergy Server software load is complete.

Nicolet EDX Systems K. Configure the Software
A. Nicolet Folder Sharing 1.
Use the Windows Explorer to navigate to the “Nicolet” folder on the appropriate drive: a. Desktop PCs: D: drive. b. Laptop PCs: C: drive.
2.
Right-click on the Nicolet folder and select Properties.
3.
In the Nicolet Properties window, select the Sharing tab and click on Share.
4.
When the File Sharing window appears select Everyone using the drop down list and click Add. Everyone should now appear in the user share list.
5.
In the user share list click on Everyone and change the permission level to “Read/Write”.
6.
Click on Share, then Done, then Close. All file sharing windows should now be closed. Close the Windows Explorer window.
B. Adobe Reader Software Settings 1.
From the Windows desktop, double-click the Adobe Reader shortcut and click Accept.
2.
From the menu bar, click Edit, then click Preferences.
3.
From the ‘Preferences’ window under “Categories:,” select General.
4.
Uncheck “Check for Updates” and click OK.
5.
Close the Adobe Reader application.
6.
From the Windows desktop, right-click the Adobe icon and click Delete.
7.
Click Yes to move the shortcut to the Recycle Bin.
C. Connect EDX Hardware 1.
Connect an EDX platform, with the Headbox device, to one of System PC USB ports.
2.
From the Windows desktop, double-click the Synergy Software shortcut.
3.
Ensure that no messages, relating to the connection of Synergy Hardware, are displayed during the next section.
D. Setup Synergy Test Folders 1.

If the Office product is not installed acknowledge any displayed warnings which relate to Word reporting.

If NicVue is installed, click OK to close the notification.
3.
Click OK to display the test configuration interface.

In the following steps, refer to the US, German, ROW, and Additional (Optional) matrix below for the test folders to load for a given system type.
5.
Click Load Folder.
6.
Highlight the required test folder and click Open.
7.
Repeat previous steps for remaining test folders shown in the tables below for the given system type.
8.
Additional test folders should be included if the corresponding hardware/software options are present and licensed (if required).
9.
Click OK to close the Test Configuration window.
