Introduction

1 Introduction 1.1

Device Description

The Natus Sleep System includes amplifiers, a personal computer (PC), software and sleep accessories. The software is installed on a PC that process signals acquired using Xltek and other select Natus amplifiers (headboxes) The number of channels recorded by the software is dependent on the amplifiers’ available inputs, the number of electrodes applied to the patient, and the user selected display montage. In addition to displaying and recording the signals the software can also display and record trends of user selectable features to facilitate viewing changes. The number and type of trends, and the channels processed are selected by the user, and are further described in the relevant sections of this manual. Core functional areas of SleepWorks are: Administrative, Acquisition, Video/Audio Recording, Review, Analysis, Reports and Archive. These core functions are further described in the relevant sections of this manual. The acquisition parameters are digitally displayed on a screen for the user interface. The users are empowered to use clinical terminology to mark the sleep events manually or automatically using Sleep Event Analyzers.
