Do not use other AC adapter, as this may cause malfunction. • In case the cord of the AC adapter is disconnected or damaged, never use it any longer, as this may cause danger. • Do not short the DC plug of the AC adapter with a metallic object, as this may cause malfunction. • Do not use the AC adapter in a narrow space, such as the one close to the wall.
Connecting to a TV monitor
Inserting a memory card
To view the images on the TV monitor for printing, connect the VIDEO OUT (output) connector of the printer to the video input of a TV monitor.
To print an image stored on a “Memory Stick”, CompactFlash card, or SD card, insert it into the relevant card slot. For the types of the memory card that you can use with the printer, see pages 92 through 94. On using a memory card
Video connecting cable (supplied) Television Set the VIDEO/TV input selector to VIDEO.
Notes • Before making connections, unplug the AC power cord of the printer and turn off a TV monitor. • When you do not use the supplied video connecting cable, use a commercially available video connecting cable shorter than 3 m. • When you use the LCD display or connect the printer to a PictBridge-compliant digital camera or PC to print an image, you do not need to connect your printer to a television. • Avoid connecting the VIDEO OUT (output) connector of the printer to a device other than a television. The unit may not operate properly or make a big noise. • The print paper emerges from the paper outlet a few times during printing. Do not block the paper outlet with the video connecting cable.
• Do not attempt to insert a memory card forcibly into or out of the slot. If you do so, the memory card or the printer may be damaged. • Do not remove the memory card while the access indicator is flashing; the memory card or printer may be damaged. • To avoid potential loss of data, make a backup copy of the contents of the memory card. We cannot compensate for any damage to or loss of data. • Check the memory card and insert it in the correct direction. If a memory card is forcibly inserted in the wrong direction, the memory card and its slot may be damaged. • Check the memory card type and make sure to insert it to the slot designed for the particular card type. If you insert a memory card to a different slot, the memory card may be damaged or you may not be able to remove the card from the slot..

Connecting a camera or other external device To print an image from a camera or other external device, connect it to the printer . You can connect an external device that supports mass storage system. For how to connect the PictBridge-compliant digital camera, see page 57.
1 Set your digital camera or other external device ready for printing with the Mass Storage-compliant printer.
Notes • The type of USB connecting cable you should use may differ depending on the digital camera. Use a USB connecting cable with an A-TYPE connector for the printer and an appropriate type for your digital camera. • We cannot guarantee connection with all types of mass storage devices. • Use a commercially available USB cable shorter than 3m in length. • While the access indicator of the external device is flashing, never turn off the power nor remove the USB cable. The data inside the external device may be damaged. We cannot guarantee any damages that may be caused by data loss or damage.
The settings and operations that are necessary before connection differ depending on the external device you use. For details, see the operating instructions of the external device. (In case of Sony Cyber-shot digital camera, for example, select “Normal” mode for the “USB Connect”. )
