Image fusion management Addendum to User manual – ROSA This is an addendum to the ROSA User manual, ref ROSA-041-2.5.8-C User manual. It provides complementary information and warning message when performing a fusion of 3D exams.
Image fusion The image fusion is proposed to the user when a second 3D exam is loaded from the Exam Manager window.
User needs to indicate if the second exam has been acquired in the same coordinates system or if a merge is needed.
When selecting Merge option, user will have to choose between 3 different modes: manual, semi-automatic and automatic (see below). At the end of each merge mode, the user has to confirm that the images are correctly superimposed to ensure device accuracy (see Fusion adjustment section).
When manual or semi-automatic fusion is selected, a window to define matching points in the two exams is displayed.

a. Automatic fusion When the user selects the automatic fusion mode, an automatic fusion of the 2 selected 3D exams is performed. At the end of the automatic fusion, the fusion result is displayed in the check fusion window, where the surgeon can verify the result of the fusion and performed adjustments. When the images are correctly superimposed to ensure device accuracy, the surgeon validates the fusion by checking the validation box and click on OK to continue. The result is saved and can be restored later.

b. Manual and semi-automatic fusion When the user selects the semi-automatic merger mode, the surgeon has to identify at least 3 references points in the 2 selected 3D exams, then the fusion is performed. At the end of the semi-automatic fusion, the fusion result is displayed in the check fusion window, where the surgeon can verify the result of the fusion and performed adjustments. When the images are correctly superimposed to ensure device accuracy, the surgeon validates the fusion by checking the validation box and click on OK to continue. The result is saved and can be restored later. When the user selects the manual merger mode, the surgeon has to identify at least 3 references points in the 2 selected 3D exams, then the check fusion window is displayed. The surgeon will perform all required adjustments and checks until the images are correctly superimposed to ensure device accuracy. The surgeon validates the fusion by checking the validation box and click on OK to continue. The result is saved and can be restored later.
